no no half part of 0.1 mm which is only 0.05mm not 1 mm half which is 0.5 mm .

the genuine bore size is 71.8 mm and when the bore worn out it is loosed by the ratio of 71.85 max and we bore it out on 71.90mm or in some scenarios MAX oversize we go for is only 72mm

I am also having knock issue in my vitz 2006 import 2012.
The sound only comes when i drive the car with very light foot on speed between 40-60 kmph.
I have used high octane too but the sound is still there.
I have got the car checked from many mechanics but they were clueless about the sound.
I have got its catalytic converter serviced, gearbox and axles etc checked. Installed new plugs, replaced coils with some other coils but problem is still there.
Please suggest me a solution to overcome this knocking sound issue. Thanks.
P.S: i have also replaced its engine with a kabli one (previous engine also had the same knocking sound so i am sure that problem isn't with the engine).

engine is detoriated and needs to be tested probably needs to rebuilded.

Sir as i already mentioned that i have already replaced the engine with new assembly so rebuilding / maintenance etc is out of question as the previous engine also had the same knocking issue. I have already spent Rs 60,000 on new engine and you are telling me again to rebuild? Don't you think there might be some other issue with some sensor etc that is causing this knocking? Another thing to mention here is that there is no other problem with the engine. Pick, average etc are superb.

it does knock when the cylinder bore gets detoriated else no way or room of engine knock in 1KR. WHat is the warranty that scrap engine was as close to new did you performed the compression test or EVR Stress test. 95% engines are scrap and knock doesnt occurs in a healthy engine.

Unfortunately i didn't perform any of the tests you mentioned but the sound (appears to be knocking to me) comes with very very light foot and the same was the case with previous engine that i swapped. Not a 1% change in sound problem after new engine swap and that's why i am saying that problem isn't with the engine but with something else.

oh that feels bad sorry but unfortunately you had wasted a good sum of amount in the wrong diagnostics and the problem persists.
ok right now the goal is to fix the situation you are facing leave the previous replacements and job behind.
ok now the following steps are which you should follow for diagnostics of current situation.

1: If possible visit rehman autos for brief diagnostics and there solution. if not then follow the below procedure's.

2: Perform a compression test before any thing with warm engine.
3: Remove the o2 sensor from cat conv then start the engine and keep the rpms steady for 1 min at 2 to 3 thousand rpms observe the smoke patterns from the o2 sensor hole if the smoke is blue whithish then cylinder bore is gone.
if smoke is brown in nature then still we had room to save the engine.
follow the above tests and let me know then we will proceed further.

I was also facing severe vibrations/knocking alike in my vitz 2010 model when speed was between 20-60 km/h. Below and after this speed, engine was smooth. For about a year, i checked with different mechanics but no solution was found. It felt to me that the engine had problem. But after tuning and changing somethings, problem was still there as it is. (I did not rebuilt or swapped engine)
Recently, a mechanic asked me to change mount/foundation of engines. I decided to change mount one by one. First i changed the timing belt mount (the big one on top left side), not much helpful. Then, i changed the 2nd mount which is below battery and it worked.
Now the engine is smooth throughout 0 to 140 km/h.

I am not sure if that is your case, but it is worth a try. You can try changing mount one by one and return it back if it does not work. I hope this helps.

^^ basic physics. harmonics and oscillations. the engine mounts hold the motor to the vehicle, if they are weak ,the vehicle oscillates and one tends to blame the engine for misfire

the 1kr is one of the most reliable and dheet engines out there

What do you mean by changing mounts? Did you remove whole engine and then changed the mounts or there is some easier way out? If you could post the pictures that will be more helpful. Thanks

Your mechanic will put a jack beneath the engine to support it. Raise it slightly to replace mounts.
