So today i changed the mounts. One below the battery and the other one that is on left side. But the sound (appears to be knocking) is still there. I have installed new kabli engine and gear box, installed new spark plugs, checked the injectors but this ****ing sound is still there. I don't know what to check anymore as i am totally clueless now

Catylatic is broken though cleaned the o2 sensor plugs are okay what else to loook for

One more thing how much cvtf is to be poured after removing the oil pan and filter cuz i suspect it drained more than 4 liters and i only poured in 4 should i fill more

timing chain adjuster is the culprit in this engine look for worned out timing cam gears.

Sir i agree it's knock but it has nothing to do with the engine as the previous engine had exactly the same knocking sound. Not a 1% difference. That's why i am saying it is not related to engine. Today i got the injectors serviced but still the issue is there. I have also changed the O2 sensor (upstream) but that didn't help either. Now the mechanic is saying he has a doubt about the manifold (exhaust). Now i will try to change the manifold and see if it helps.

sorry for the Misdiagnosed faults and their rectifications. 1st thing did you perform a compression test or not?
and in the scrap world not every engine is 100% brand new 3 or 4 engine in every 2000 engines are found to be good as new else is scrap.

dont waste your precious money on hit and trial methods they are waste of time.
verdict is final knock in 1KR is due to detoriated pistons and Cylinder Bore.

you have bought a used engine which has piston slap and bad timing chain tensioner probably, a classic issue on toyota 1KR. What this means is that.

this engine will develop these noises as they age, and can be repaired to new spec. Buying a used engine guarnatees that you will get an engine wth these noises already present.

You can identify a lot of noises just by using a stethescope - if you hear a knocking noise while going over bumps, its probably chassis related like arms etc. If you hear it at idle then first try isolating stuff that is spinning externally (meaning remove the belt and test) - knocking noise can be from a bad AC compressor too as it can be from the belt tensioner too.

But - as Raja Atta said - buying scrap literally means you are buying scrap (translated to kabaar maal - aka teen dabba etc) - dont expect brand new service life from it.

The sound neither comes on idle nor from going over bumps. It comes when you drive with very very light foot on speed between 40 kmph to 60 kmph. Also, there is no check light / error code that's why it's very hard to diagnose.
You are right that these kabli engines can never be trusted but again i will say that i am pretty confident that the source of this knocking isn't related to the engine (there was the same knocking sound with the previous engine) but with something else...
PS: I didn't replace the engine with kabli one because of this sound but due to the gasket got blown up due to my negligence.

CVTF Fluid as we service it here if we open only Oil Pan Not the strainer then on ideal temperatures the quantity is 3.8 L only.
and if the oil Strainer is also opened during service then on ideal Oil temperature conditions the oil quantity is 4L only.
Never Ever try to refill or level check on hot engine it has a temperature standard of 45-50 d C of oil level inspection if temperature raises we can easily be misguided and underfill the transmission easily and that can lead in total transmission failure.

I guess its a piston slap. Due to CVT trans at 30kmph and 40kmph the engine rpm is at 1000 to 1.5. Which strains the engine to move the car forward. Rev it and it will disappear. Piston slap won’t be heard on idle only when engine is on LOAD. Happened with my city as well.

I once flush and filled my old Mitsubishi lancer by removing radiator hose of tranny and I took out 4 liter once and then poured exact quantity in it.....moved the transmission in every gear to fully release all oil from torque converter...then I filled 1 1 liter.....total I filled was 6.2 liter .,bit I did it on cold car...... fluid used was generic Dex 3

bro the drained quantity was 5.5 liter i have put in 4 liters now iam confused should i fill in more or not

try to get your hands on scan eqiupment in that get the reading's of transmission oil temp start the cold engine and let the engine idle until the transmission oil reached the 45C temp keeping the engine on remove the drain nut from the transmission if the oil comes out let it drip until it stop running and if the oil doesnt come out fill in the oil until it starts dripping again remember you had to do this procedure as quick as possible.

yes boss i had designed my own tool for hot leveling for k410 and k310 series and it works like a magic.
currently working on the vaccum based tool for leveling purpose. done only 20% work as vaccume pressure settings are hard to find an ideal vacuume value

lots of idiot shops in USA have done this when trying to "check" the level of it - on a fully hot transmission - (most toyotas have this overflow type setup now) - and drained out a lot of oil - which then didnt cause total failure, but issues down the road.
