If rattle sound is only on cold startup and goes away after warming up it,s not that big of an issue.Try to live with it.Replacing vvt pulleys is expensive.

BTW this car never changed its pullies or timing chain since the day of manufacture and these noises are because of that.

I don't know exactly but it's around 35k to 40k a member was saying this price.

Its 40k per pulley from toyota, used ones from scrap rattle too.

This is why valve clearance setting is mandatory at 100,000 on these, it gives best performance when such maintenance is done.

90% of pulleys sourced from scrap engines are noisy too. and if according to you 40K isnt too much for it, then why are you asking about scrap item anyway.

Sorry i wrote it Wrong. i am asking isnt it too much for a pulley only?

usually here people qouted me 40 50 k for complete Engine overhaul ! do they install this pulley too ?

head cost with vavles around 15k and other parts cost around 20k and then labor cost around 10 k

What is valve clearance setting? can you guide please.
My car after idle overnight or after 2-3 hours idle, starts very, very low as if battery is dead and vibrates alot. Gain race after 2-3 seconds while we push accelerator.. But once engine gets warm, all set up. Approx take 3-5 minutes to get back to normal. Mileage is 230k+.

look for a sticker on the bottom side of the hood for valve clearances. valve buckets are present in this engine. find the right size of the buckets to get the correct clearance. do not go for machining or filing with emery paper. in fact stay away from mechanics who suggest this.
