Good read. It means that for our environment, unless living in extreme north, 5W-30 is not a recommended oil.

I am attaching Yaris 2015 manual engine oil selection chapter for 1KR-FE engine. Can you share your views on this, please.

Well, that's what written in Manual but I personally like using 5W-30 grade in my 2007 (2013 import) Passo (since last 2 years) about touching 146K now.

even my 2010 model Mehran that used from 2014 to 2018 (58k to 86K) I used 10W-40.

In last oil change I swithced to 10W-40 from a Pricy Brand which is almost priced same as 5W-30 of most brands but I'm not liking engine response so I'll switch to 5W-30 again ( & forever now).

5W-30 is the one I like most (Personal Views might not be suitable for everyone)

As like everyone I downloaded 1KR-FE manual from 'Internet" so its authenticity can't be verified.
With 5W-30 or more lower grades your engine might consume some engine oil but its normal (and same is mentioned in Car Service Manuals by Toyota, Honda, Suzuki)
One can top up consumed engine oil (in weekly checkup etc.)
