Toyota Vitz Model 2008 AC issue

Asalamoalikum,

Couple of days back i had a AC malfunction in my Vitz 2008. At the very moment the AC stopped but started working again after few hours. Now this is continually happening as sometimes AC starts working but most of the time it doesn't. I took to one of my regular mechanic and he said that the compressor has malfunctioned and might cost me around 20,000 to 24,000 to get this thing repaired.
My question is if this cost estimate is justified? Did anyone had this issue with their car????

Same Issue happened with me in May 2017 i have 2006 vitz 1.0.

My AC mechanic told me that he have AKA Sensor wala Compressor .

He just replace the Compressor with corolla 2005 With Compressor Mount. and refill Gas. after replacing i didn't face any single issue regarding AC.

Total Expenses : 12K

Did he change the compressor to clutch type or same sensor type ?
