Guys, need your input on this please.

On my way to the coastal highway balochistan, i was driving my vitz on petrol, due to the wind pressure and all, the car would not do more than 130km/h on petrol 4th gear (automatic), although if i floor the accelerator it would downshift and gain more speed but 4th gear would not go beyond 130km/h with only 3 average size people and no luggage.

So how can i remove the speed limiter, as i'm sure its the speed limiter that kicks in and limits the car's speed on auto gears or is there anyway around it so i can go above 130km/h easily.

For this you will need to have the cars ECU remapped (Cant be done in Pakistan at the moment) by the way 130kmp is a very acceptable top speed for a 1.0L vitz you should be happy with it.

Pushing a 1000cc above this speed is not recomended also.

I own a vitz 2002, working well on CNG.
I am planning to buy vitz 2006. I have heard that the 05 n above vitz having a 3 cylinders engine doesnt perform well on CNG. The engine is blown after 20k kilometers on CNG.
Kindly guide me in this regard if somebody has knowledge about this issue.
Members who own vitz 05 or above with CNG kit installed, are requested to tell about their experience.

its not due to speed limiter because vitz even crosses 160kph and ur speed was only 130kph

i doubt that a 1.0 liter Vitz even has a limiter (it cant get to 180)
JDM cars have 180 kph(112 mph) limiter not less then that

Below is a like from Ebay but the kit is for a 1.5 Yaris (Vitz) but if you search Ebay after a few days you should be able to find a kit for a 1.0 as I have seen these posted for sale on ebay before.

You guys are correct there is no limiter on Japanese imported Vitz but the European imported Yaris i.e. Vitz has a limiter at 120mph but most are derestricted by there previous owners as most vitz are imported from Japan to Pk there in no limiter fitted.

Besides, in this very PW thread, i was rightly advised to check the catalytic converter causing the limit on top speed. It was all chocked in my case.

Hi Vitz Gurus,

I have vitz 99 and it has following problems

1) Pick up is too low even on petrol
2) the over drive button is not working

Where should i go to get these problems rectify. If you could provide me contact number of some SKILL FULL mechanic/electrician, that would be great.

Hmm .. so that means it doesnt have limiter and even if it did, it should go above 150km/h just like "Mafzaltareens" and dude, wait till u get on the coastal highway , even 160km/h on a straight smooth road would not feel much

How does your car go above 130km/h, mines automatic , and doesn't removing the cat increases the fuel consumption ?

Could be something to do if u have CNG installed, if they dont fix the wires correctly in the MAP sensor the OD doesn't work. and about the pick up .. please get ur throttle body thoroughly serviced/cleaned, plugs changed and the rpm (if only on petrol) should not increase 600, would give u a good response

my car used to cross 140 on cng and 160 on petrol even before removing the CAT converter.Removing CAT converter increases fuel consumption but increases the performance too and what if the CAT is choked?so its necessary to remove cat to make ur car smooth.

^and if u r driving it on petrol then the chances of CAT to be choked are more!

my car is bone stock and it goes to 156km/hr while OD is OFF...it really doesn't go above that speed....and my car is too good mashallah,no problem at all..works fine! and yes i removed my CAT while it wasn't chocked but still i removed it ...no major difference except you can feel lack of torque when there 4 person in the car

then how you all guys claim that your car go above 160kmhr or 180kmhr bla bla
maybe becoz of the wrong calculation of your meter due to changed tires and rims

and yes my CAR is on PETROL frm the very first day....by now its 47000kms driven...and yes mostly on HI-Octane!

+1 , EFI and CNG jst dont go together. if u want CNG carby cars are best for that.

hmm... i'll get the cat checked , but i wont remove it if its ok as i'm sure the check engine will keep on blinking afterwards besides, i drive my car on CNG in city and petrol on long routes.

Exactly my point, with OD off it goes above 150km/h but i can feel engine begging afterwards, but with OD ON and on Petrol it doesn't go above 130km/h and even that if the wind is not against me. So really isn't there any other way to improve the speed so that it can atleast do a decent 150km/h on petrol on 4th gear OD ON, without compromising the fuel efficiency ?
