Dear Pakwheelers,

I am looking forward to buy vitz 1999-2004 manual with petrol/ cng.
Do you think it is a good idea still to own buy one in 2018. Its price range is 6.5-7.5 lakh.
How expensive are parts and is it cost effective to maintain.

I can get good cuore, alto and cultus in this price range but vitz is different

I will recommend you to go for vitz 1st gen 1999-2004 ... Its one hell of a reliable car ... Vitz got famous in Pakistan bcz of this 1st gen reliability. Parts & maintenance is hell cheap.
Kind of basic car with many goodies. Also runs great on CNG unlike the 2nd or 3rd gen. Petrol consumption is also better like I always used to get 14 kmpl within city with AC & 18-20 on highway. AC is also great although as these are older models so compressors are weak & you may feel that cooling decreases alot while idling.
No jhanjhat of CVT gear noise & vibrations while idling. No jhanjhat of Catalytic converter blockage every now & then. Its 1sz engine is a properly balanced engine.
Go for it anyday over cultus or coure or alto, eyes closed.
Insha Allah if u have got enough knowledge about maintaining a car, go for it & get it maintained overall at once after buying i.e. throttle service, replace plugs, replace ATF oil, replace brake pads, add coolant + thermostat etc. And you are good to go.

Thank you @humayun.chughtai.7, your review has been quite helpful as i have been quite confused lately to buy one or not, to be honest I like the model 1999- 2004 shape better than later ones. However the hybrid version 2017 is quite appealing.

There is this guy selling for 7 lakh manual model, blue, analog meter. Is it a good buy?

Manuals are rare but hell of fuel efficient plus powerful. As auto tranny feels underpower in some cases.
No need to worry about analogue meter, you can get the kabli digital meter for around 1500 - 2000 although the wiring harness needs a little modification so the electrician will charge you 500 - 700 for proper installation.
Plz mention the specs also ... Means model ? Import year ? Registration ? Mileage on odo meter ? How is the paint condition (usually sides are showered in such old models) ? And it should not be frontal accidented.
Then I will be able to give you any idea.

Vitz & Passo both have 2 models each in 2014

Vitz Pre-Facelift
Vitz Spider Shape

Passo Pre-Facelift
Passo Facelift (Eco Idle Tech.)

For Best Fuel Economy the last option will be the pick.

Well, i am good with the analog meter.
located Karachi, its 154 k on the meter total. Paint job is scratches all over the body, engine wise and shocks are decent

If mechanically & drive wise ok. Then good. Also take a critisized look with in the engine bay for electical wiring, it should not cut & taped here & there otherwise it will give problems everyday.
Being on the safe side, get it checked from denter for any accidents.
If documents ok, non accidented, then 670 - 80 would be a good deal
