I have Toyota vitz 2012 2015 reg
I purchased my car with 67k km odo ye nh Pata k meter reverse h ya Nahi when I got the car I poured shell hx7 5w30 after 2k km I noticed redu tion in oil then I switched to total 5w30 but after 3000km the oil was reduced to 2l
I spoke to shell guy he said 10w40 hx6 will be the solution so I went with his advice and poured 10w40 at 77k km
Now a days I reading here on the forum that 10w40 is bad for 1000cc vitz
So what should I do

Your car is using roughly 333 ml of 5w30 oil in 1000km. That is a considerable amount but i suggest you either stick with 5w30 and keep checking/topping up every week or as required. If your car is used a lot then its not feasible to keep adding oil frequently so you can change to 5w40 or 0w40. I don't recommend 10w40 as it's too viscous to flow at cold temperatures and will result in high cold start wear.

IMO, Total 5w-30 seems fine. Still, if not satisfied, then from next oil change, you may 1st try 10w-30 by Caltex / Havoline, and if not satisfied, then 10w-40 fully synthetic by ZIC.

Keep an eye on engine oil level. If it drops, simply top it up.

Ensure that oil is 100% authentic, and change oil + oil filter after every 5,000 Kms.

Dear 10w-30 is not universally mineral oil. It may come in fully synthetic, semi synthetic or mineral, however, depends on availability.

Here in Pakistan, it might also be available in these 3 types, but to me, brand matters 1st, and then the composition.

If there's an abc brand selling fully synthetic or semi synthetic 10w-30, and there is a well renowned brand, like Caltex / Havoline, selling 10w-30 but mineral, I would prefer buying it, instead of some abc brand.

Yes. I can bet that 10w-30 by Caltex / Havoline is Great! and one of the best value to money oils.

As far as my opinion on your 2nd / last point is concerned, Brother I would say that all engines consume some engine oil, however small that quantity is.

I don't know of any engine, which doesn't consume a single drop of oil.

I used 10w-40 semi synthetic in my ride, and level on dipstick dropped from max. To min. In ~2700 Kms run, and turned black. So what? As far as engine's health is absolutely fine MA SHA ALLAH.

These things didn't matter much. Engine should be healthy, and oil must be % authentic, and from some reputed brand.

As far as good fuel economy is concerned, you'll get it most from thin oils. When you'll start moving towards thick oils, fuel economy may drop.

Grades for good fuel economy: 0w-20, 5w-20, 5w-30, and lastly, 10w-30.

Grades affecting fuel economy: xw-40 (like 5w-40, 0w-40, 10w-40, 15w-40) and 20w-50 (5w-50 and 10w-50 also count)

Whichever grade you choose, just ensure that it meets / exceeds OEM criteria, and is as per owners / users manual.

If you switch from some other brand's 10w-30 to Caltex / Havoline 10w-30, I don't think it'll effect mileage or pick.

Any 5w-40, I won't suggest for 1KR-FE. 10w-30 seems fine for it, compared to 5w-40.

i dont think brother there is considerable difference in fuel consumption when using fully synthetic oil of different grades and driving with light foot.

Well... YES, technically it is possible and can be true, but I said it based on my personal experience.

I have owned Passo in the past, and once I poured Caltex / Havoline fully synthetic 5w-40 in it.

Car almost died, with drastic drop in pick, power, fuel economy, etc.

Where I had been getting 18~19 kmpl fuel economy within city, on same driving conditions, car had been giving me 13~15 kmpl fuel economy.

Everything came back when I changed engine oil early, and returned to the right / recommended engine oil grade(s) i.e. 5w-20, or 5w-30.

(Nothing else was messed up. Just oil change, pick, fuel economy, etc. gone. Then oil change, and everything returned)

brother i have the same experience with caltex 5w-40 fully synthetic oil. it does cause the heavy feel however its quite a good oil and quite protective in nature.

however similar or even higher viscosity fully synthetic oils of other manufacturers doesnt have similar impact and they suit the rides.
