Hope you are well by the grace of almighty.
Today i have replaced my car Vitz 2010 engine oil. But this time i have changed the oil to toyota petron plus10w30 API SP/CF on my mechnic recommendation. However, i had been using toyota genuine oil 5w30 and then 10w30 Sn/CF in my car since i purchased it.
Now i feel that i made a mistake and i should have stuck to the genuine oil. Could you experts please advise me if the dicision is correct or replace it again?

Oil consumption 2 L in 4000 kms is way to abnormal Toyota guys cannot diagnose the detoriated engine .... Strange or they just want to keep that engine running and running.

Check for the smoke test and share the results.

Don't worry on next oil change switch back to the SN
And remember Don't use old gen oils in this engine whoever says or ask you don't listen to them just keep using SN grade oil and you are good to go.

Why not keep using Toyota kixx is old gen oil packed and sold here in high prices

If the engine oil is not reduced at all till 5000 kms then switch to Valvoline 5w30 synth oil and replace the oil after 10000 kms it's one of the best lubes I am recommending and using in 1kr fleets both which I have rebuilded and the healthy engines.

What’s wrong with that if car n engine is running fine.

Vitz is notorious for oil consumption after 70k km but still it runs fine..

I guess is rebuild is needed if the engine just stops working maybe?

But do note that a lot of cars were 1000cc but engine swapped to 1300cc.

2L in 2000 kms is way over oil consumption.
The actual problem lies in misdiagnosis of the fault either the engine is detoriated or the engine oil is of poor quality.
In a healthy engine normal oil evaporation is normal like 500 ml in 10000kms as the pcv system consumes it and etc.

For the query by any manufacturer like 1L every 1000 kms is applicable if the engine is healthy and no smoke is observed in stress test along with best quality engine oil in this scenario sometimes due to atmospheric changes like climate change or driving ng conditions if changed like long idling for more then 2 hours can increase the chances of oil consumption like we occasionally get stuck in severe traffic jams for long times and if the oil evaporates it's normal but if the problem persists for more then 2 oil changes then a proper diagnostic is needed to confirm either engine is leaning toward detoriation or still the conditions are effecting the engine performance.

Hello everyone, just bought a 2014 model 2014 import first owner vitz, driven 98k km and in pretty good condition. Need help with a couple of things I noticed:

Eco light/mode is not working - regardless of how light heavy the foot is, Eco mode is not working at all. What could be the possible reasons for this?
Its giving poor milage, 11.5 within city without AC. I doubt this is normal and should be more for a 1000cc car. kindly correct me if im wrong and suggest possible way forward to improve the milage.
I have just got the car, what should be the first maintenance tips? Which oil to use etc
Will be visiting the mechanic soon to have the scanner hooked and check for any errors etc.
Suggestions for a good/learned/accustomed with vitz mechanic in Lahore, preferably around DHA.

For the "Shaukiya" part:
Is it possible to install multimedia steering controls and cruise control? I also saw an ad for an RPM meter - would it be fine to change the meter or should it be avoided?

Congratulations on the new purchase.

Dear its simple, first get few things done and than comes the turn of add ons.

1- Throttle body clean
2- Catcon clean
3- Plugs clean
4-Air, AC and Oil filter change
5- Oil change (Always stick with 5w-30 fully synthetic oil - Total 9000 or Kixx G1 are good options)
6- Alignment
7- Balancing
8- ECU reset by removing -ve terminal of battery for 10 mins
9-24 hours wait with normal usage for idle learn process

Once all these are done than observe and share if eco issue persists

regarding meter, if u find orignal its plug and play.

regarding steering controls your multimedia needs to get connected with wires from steering so its a work of learned electrician

I visited a workshop yesterday and got the car scanned, below is a list of errors the car has:

It primarily the cat and the egr, one of the wires to the egr was also broken. The mechanic gave a quote of 8000/- which includes the labor to clean the cat, service throttle body, manifold and egr. They mentioned cleaning the cat with 'foam wash' which i've heard for the first time - does anyone have any experience of this? Is it fine to proceed with as i have no experience with it.

Can you please also share the current prices of Total 9000 and Kixx G1 as well as the filters if possible.

cant say regarding prices of oil and filters.

i think 8K is a lot for simple tasks however if they are going to use special cleaning chemicals for catcon so may be.

No, i think once all these tasks are done and ecu has been reset car should be fine.
