Toyota vitz unusual heating problem

I have totyota vitz 2008 (mileage 92000) Last week I was driving it with ac on around 2pm (outside temp was 43) red heat up alarm light started to blink on the dashboard and I stopped the car waited for 15 mins and then went to the nearest mechanic He said your radiator was running low on water so he filled the coolant and after that I regularly check my water level, Last night i was coming back from office and i hardly drove 10km car started vibrating and when I checked the engine it was literally burning as i could feel the heat even in the hand break. So i stopped the car waited for few mins and checked the water, level of the water was fine. this time no alarm light popped up(im guessing it would have if i drove another 5 to 10 km) Im not sure why it happened as the water level was fine in the cooling system.

should I get my ac compressor checked or radiator or both?

Looks like the radiator. Was the ac working fine ? Check all the belts also. Radiator needs a coolant rather than saada pani for filling which ur mechanic maybe did.

1. Radiator coolant and leak check
2. Engine oil levels
3. Belts

The problem with these light wali cars is that when the light comes on its already too late. Or you have very less time to react.

if the car over heats the rule of thumb is that your cars AC will trip.

just in case get the cars oil changed and radiator full with water for a week. after that replace water with Toyota Genuine Pink or Caltex Orange Coolant. Dont settle for cheap green coolants.

On the sideline please clean/ flush your radiator and put in good quality coolant (preferably pre mixed) apart from cleaning it from the outside

Ac is working fine, the first time before the alarm light ac tripped and engine stopped(as the car was idle) and last night i switched off the ac myself. Fan is auto, the coolant im using is zic (red color) but the fist time when the ac tripped there was a hard knock I heard coming from engine.

Beside all of respected suggestions. Mine is there is a temperature sensor in the engine which sense the engine temperature and according to that the Engine fan works so check that sensor also.
