Toyota VS Honda engine's

Guyz i have charade '88 and i am confused for an engine swap! toyo or honda? .... the options are ...

Honda:
D15b (single or dual vtec)
D16
D17

Toyota:
4efe
5efe
4afe
5afe
4age - Silver top

aight! I knw many of u must b wondering y im not considering 4efte ... since i will b running car on CNG and petrol both so turbo engine is out of the list .....

I need to knw which engine should i go for and why? .... My vote is D15b but im not sure how much will it cost me the engine is around 50k but as to wat ive heard D15b will cost me much more for charade since ill hv to bare alteration cost, suspension, GODA nd bla bla ... whereas 4efe is much cheaper in everyway .... but i dnt hv any idea abt 5efe 4afe etc ... so enlighten me a bit plz ... and if i go for D15b then other then engine wat else would i need to change or replace in my car? i need a comparison between D15b and toyo engines ... (hv very little knowledge regarding d16 and d17 so not sure if they should b even considered)

D15b (carby) is Waay better than 4afe. As in acceleration, speed and power. I have tested both of them very well.

@ krazyboy .... wat abt consumption? maintenance? and fitting, alteration costs etc? ... plus weight ratio? since i need to knw which one best suits charade! ... and other then that i need a trouble free engine for long run....

i think a toyo engine will be a better option though i can assure you D15B2 or any D15 single/3-stage vtec will give you more kick, more power n i think better fuel economy. the D16Y6/8 is very nice engine but its heavy on fuel and will drain your pockets

as for 4efe and others, if you can get a hand on their latest generation versions, that would be good too as they too produce good horsepower with low displacement. you'll have to wait for toyota experts to comment on these engines as i dont have sufficient knowledge about them.

for Some Power....I would suggest You either D15B VTEC Or 4AFE
4AFE is More stronger than D15b in sense of parts and reliability but D15B Churns Out More Power On stock...Simple as that...

4efe all the way ! will cost u less in installing ! u would get it around 50-55k nowdays
i think there is no major alteration in installing 4efe but axels will be alterated or made ! mileage is great ! in cng 130-140 in local full tank and on long run it can give u 180-190
this is the least mileage im talking about because my 5afe gives me this mileage which is 1.5Land 4efe is 1.3L ! try to get latest version as there are 2-3 versions in it ! u will be able to distingsh them by the intake manifold ! and last 4efe in charade can beat many stock cars including xli,gli,1.8altis,se saloon,premio,vti,exi,( we cheked these cars with 2 4efe charads ) not sure about reborn because didnt cheked it with ! of my frends has swapped 4efe in charade one 86 and other 96 charade ! performance was outclass ! its a good swap ! one drawback is that nowdays almost every one is swaping 4efe in charade so there will be no uniqueness

plus charade is a light car so if u swap 4efe or D15b or 4a or 5a ! it will give u nice performance

wait till they need a new set of CV or inner joints - doomed - it'll be heat cut weld - weld some more - and you will end up with an ugly drive axle

@sinner - thanks for sharing yr exp man it has helped me alot .... the mileage is pretty awesome !! ... and u guyz r rite charade with 4efe 105 hp i.e i think is more then enough since car will b used on cng/petrol ....

@lastlook .... a little of all 3 ...but yes reliability should b the first pick then speed and then comes price

@all .... i am more inclined towards d15b since start but if 4efe is a trouble free engine on CNG nd PETROL both COMPARED to D15b and if it has better mileage then 4efe seems to be the right choice imo ....

Toyota was auto so 100kms in city and 160kms on long runs. Honda is Manual and giving me 140kms on local and 220kms on long runs (approx). Both are maintenance-free engines, if you get a real piece. Wesy people usually go for Toyota one`s for charade swap, and there might be some reason for that.

bhai to me D15b is best option as its more powerfull yet wth 4efe u can hardly even catch stock civics but wth D15 u can eat a hell out of R18 civic aswell.yet both honda n toyota r reliable.baki when it comes too cams n valve no toyot Fan realizes tht the only option is grindin whereas in honda adjustable rocker arms so no tension,ur igintion depends alot on these valves etc
