Toyota Yaris ATIV 1.3 Auto - Car start moving while shifting gear to D or R without pressing brake pedal

Hello Guys, my last car was Prius 2013 model registered in 2017, i don't know u can call it safety feature or not, when ur car in on Neutral, without pressing brake pedal ur car did not move even u shift gear to D, Alhamdulilah got new yaris 1.3 ATIV auto, car start moving when ur car is on neutral and u shift the gear to D/R with out pressing brake, this is strange for me
basically i have two kids one is 4 and second is 2 years old, when they sit on front seat they shift the gear while car is stop and specially in Neutral, it must be on P which is the right decision; my mistake
however can one guide in yaris CVT Model they did not gave this safety feature or what ?

I think his question is that:

When the gear shifter is in neutral, he can move the gear selector from neutral to reverse or drive without pressing the brake pedal. He is concerned as his children sit in the front seat, and play with the gear selector.

Pretty sure this is normal on a lot of cars

Solution:

Step 1) Discipline your children and teach them the dangers of playing with gear shifter. Or, simply don't let them sit in the front seat.
Step 2) Always put the car in park when stationary or use the handbrake if you need to put it in neutral. There should be no need to put it in neutral really.

Make it a habit to put your car in Park every time you're out of the driver's seat for a while with passengers in the car. Use Neutral when you're at traffic stops or whenever you're stopping somewhere with yourself in the driving seat. The shifter on the Prius and Yaris are different. I don't have much technical knowledge behind it but I think Prius has an electronic shifter that checks whether or not you have the brake pressed and it's gear selector also moves back to the center position once you've shifted. With Yaris and most other automatic cars, it is actually recommended to press the brake before shifting but it's not a necessity. So, if you move the lever to Drive, it will actually shift and start moving. It's just expected behavior.

My question to you is, why did you move to Yaris after keeping a Prius?

Thanks bro, used toyota prius 02 years changed their ABS system and repair battery cell but i enjoyed the ride, dueto heavy maintenance cost shifted to Yaris

I dont know the gear technical knowledge but you can see the Honda automatic Cars, they don't start moving with out pressing the brake paddle when u r in neutral and shift to D/R.

How much did the brake system repair cost?

My uncle has a 2008 Prius, he has had brake warning on dash for 1 month and mechanics say abs/brake unit needs replacing. Just the part is 1.5 lakhs.

His Prius is also burning lots of oil between changes.

yes whole ABS unit need to replace, i paid 75K PKR last year but its genuine Japanese ABS unit, there is also another price 50K chinese available, i have good relation with technician in Bilal Gunj name Maja who is best for hybrid cars
so short story is prius is not for salaried class, u dont know when battery or ABS unit issue comes
I drive care for 02 years almost 50k running, also save fuel but at then end of the day it balance ur expenses
mine prius is very immaculate condition running was 99K when i purchased and its 95% genuine condition
bcoz car was running in ISL

You can't goto reverse from neutral in any car without pressing the brake pedal
you can however shift into neutral from reverse.
