Hill start is not only for hills. It is for whenever u r stopped on a slope. It can be the underground parking of a plaza as well. It is very helpful when u have to stop on the slope of, say, a basement parking, and have to make sure the car doesn't roll back before moving forward.
This, and the other features, like auto climate control, traction control and smart entry are things that seem over the top if u haven't used them. But once u become accustomed to them, u feel their need if they r not there. I have an aqua with all these features, and my dad's corolla doesn't have them. It is a pain to move the AC knobs again and again while trying to set the temperature. It is a pain to move the car again on the house ramp if u have to stop midway. It is almost impossible to move the car in if it has rained lightly. None of these is a problem with my Aqua. All these features assist you in driving, and make ur life a lot easier.
