It's a different bumper and lights. Changing bumper only won't affect warranty but changing lights will (in my opinion).

If height makes TRC necessary, then why does BRV not have it?

BRV ki lenght, width, tire size is different then a Yaris, The long wheel base alone makes the centre of gravity better

There is trc in my Aqua. In fact, it comes as standard in aqua. Aqua doesn't have any height issues. Same goes for several JDM models. TRC is not provided for cars with high height, and I doubt it will be too helpful for higher cars. It just makes sure that both the tyres are moving at the same speed, and if one is moving faster, it brakes that tyre. So it helps gain traction in situations where the tyres are skidding, and perhaps when the car is going sideways. Higher ground clearance cars can have an issue with keeping all tyres on the road when losing traction, and in that scenario, trc won't help much.

Toyota has started providing more safety features of late, perhaps due to expected competition arriving from new entrants. They already included airbags with face-lift corolla without there being any problem with the car. I believe this is the result of good effects of competition. Plus, hill start assist is also added by toyota without there being any apparent reason for its inclusion.

I believe a lot of issues people have with manual transmission will not be a problem in yaris CVT. It has a 7 speed triptonic transmission and u can change virtual gears or use the virtual manual mode without having to press the clutch. So, if u want to drive in a little spirited mood, u can switch to manual mode and keep the gears longer. If u r descending a hill, u can use the manual mode to keep speed in check, and if u want to accelerate suddenly, all u need is a little flick of the wrist and the car will retain the gear. U can also try lowering the gear if u want to go faster, it will let u do that until it feels it not safe for the engine, so u can go to the lowest safe gear and accelerate just like a manual. Similarly, if u think there is carbon build up in the engine due to it keeping at the same rpm, u can drive in manual mode for a few kms to clear it up. I believe unless someone is an enthusiast, the 7 speed shiftmatic is the best of both worlds, auto when u want it to be, and manual when u want it to be. It just lacks the paddle shifters or it will be similar to a grande. The working is the same at the backend, the interface is different.

In Japan traction control is a safety feature and is standard in almost all cars.

For Pakistani yaris's raised height this is a requirement. Else cars would be flying upside down.

If Toyota had cared for you they wouldn't make a chawal of having VSC in Grande and not having it in 1.8 Cruisetronic.

congratulations MashAllah... I am also using Aqua 2015 as my daily and may replace it with a local option. I checked out Yaris fully loaded and wasn't that much impressed. I didn't overall like the interior, it feels a bit cheap overall , lacks seat height adjuster, retractable mirrors and yeah that arm rest shouldnt be there in the first place.
Maybe my perception changes when I drive the car but interior disappointed me. I don't mean to hurt anyone but just sharing my opinion.

Abi trc/vsc ki bat kerlein? Phir hill assist pe b ajate hain.

Since toyota cvt transmission has a separate ecu. Hill assist start assist is nothing but a software play.

Another reason trip tronic transmission is standard across the lineup.

Yaris is a inferior product compared to toyota Aqua prius family.

Similarly Rav4 is a premium product compared to the Asian only Fortuner

Healthy discussions encourage knowledge sharing and I'm always into it.

A few things I like to mention, though, I've nothing against Autos & I don't force my opinion on others too, but I like to be aware of the facts so I can make informed decision about the pros/cons.

FYI - I've driven Altis 1.6 AT for 3 years and then switched to Yaris Ativ MT.

If I would only drive within city limits, I'll also go with AT but since I'm a frequent traveler to hilly areas & road trips so MT's better in following regards.

1. Fuel Economy is always better with MT than AT (at least in PKDM cars). Check pakwheels forums for respective cars. Also, it's a stablished fact as well and car manufacturers knows it, too. Most ( >50% ) sold cars in PK/UK/India are manual ones for the same reason. My last fuel top-up indicate 15.7 km/l (in local) & I hit 150km/hr twice on Islamabad Expressway after mid-night & still getting awesome mileage. I would like to see an AT owner can achieve it with AT. Also, hypermiling is not possible with the AT effectively. I'm telling this by experience.

2. Acceleration is always better with MT. Take any 1.3 MT car and it'll be faster than any higher engine model in AT. For example:

   • Yaris 1.3 MT is faster than Yaris 1.5 AT
   • City 1.3 MT is faster than City 1.5 AT
   • Swift 1.3 MT is faster than Swift 1.3 AT
   • I suspect, Altis 1.6 MT will be faster than Altis 1.8 (just like civic 1.6 is faster than 1.8) - time will tell.
   • etc.
     Reference: Pakwheels/youtube is full of such experiences.

3. Top speed with MT is also always higher than AT. Even Yaris manual says so. Not just yaris, but check manuals for other cars as well.

4. Maintenance Cost is again higher with AT. Check Manual of your car, the maintenance section and you'll see the frequency. Also, we don't follow insurance in Pakistan but in most countries, the insurance is also expensive with the AT but that besides the point.

5. CVTi are prone to issues. There's a law-suite going on in Australia (where customer service is ensured for consumers unlike in Pakistan) for transmission alone with Nissan. Toyota has recalled CVT transmission cars but it won't happen in Pakistan for sure IMO. Please read more below

6. Breaking power is weak with the AT. Since CVTi is belt driven so there's no transmission breaking. Also, Engine breaking is not effective due to torque converter. Your primary source of breaking excludes engine & transmission. High end cars with integrated ECU with the engine can control revs but with CVTi alone isn't effective.

7. Companies are moving towards first manual transmission gear combined with the CVTi for faster accelerations known as launch gear. Even Toyota & Honda have started doing the same. You can read more here, if interested.

8. As for the carbon build-up, it's a bit technical point so it'll be difficult to explain in layman terms.

P.S.
CVTi in itself is fuel efficient. However since it's heavier & there's a power-loss due to torque converter (plus, the acceleration lag due to pulley-adjustment thus the rubber band effect) makes it slower & less fuel efficient. Also, if you wish to push CVTi transmission hard enough time to time, the transmission belt will deteriorate quick enough.

Also, check PW forums for AT issues & you'll know it.

The point I'm trying to make is that, AT bring convenience at a cost of fuel economy, acceleration, breaking, maintenance cost & overall reduced engine life and we're perfectly OK with it. Saying that AT is better than MT is a false statement in my opinion.

Well, I tend to differ on a few things:

I'm a frequent traveler to hilly areas & road trips so MT's better

Unless / until the driver is extremely expert, then its better to go to the hilly areas in cars equipped with conventional Automatic transmission (its preferable, or any AT) or even CVT.

Just down shift to the lower gears, like 1, 2, D-2, 3, D-3, etc. in case of ATs, and B / L in case of CVTs, and you are good to go.

Fuel Economy is always better with MT than AT

In case of pure, conventional ATs, it's true, however, in case of CVT / AGS / AMT, etc., its not that much applicable. CVT / AGS / AMT, etc. provide a very good fuel efficiency, and can be comparable to their counterpart cars equipped with MT.

Fuel Efficiency: MT > CVT / AGS / AMT > AT

Agree with each point of yours about manual. I’ve driven manual for 15 years and it was fun. 1.3 MT city’s acceleration till 140 is equal to 1.6 AT till 140 km/h... and 1.8 Manual is fun to drive every time you accelerate it gives you feedback that you have power in your control... even at 140-150 speed 1.8 manual engine can give you mileage equal to 1.3 engine at the speed of 140 km/h...

I actually sold Corolla 1.6 AT due to it being AT so spoke out of my experiences of few years as it loses power during hill climbs (even on not so steep monal area) & had to change tyres for better grips so I could avoid heating of brake system as I drive a bit faster than normal traffic flow.

However, I absolutely respect your opinion & views on this.

Dear trends are changing now since last 03~05 years, or so. Now, to cope up with rush, stop and go traffic, people prefer to go for cars equipped with CVT / AGS / AMT, or even AT.

They are costly compared to MT, maintenance costs are also higher. Still, people prefer them, and their resale is also going strong.

Dear prefer to not drive at such speeds.

1st, the speed is quite high, and IMO, this speed is much more than the speed allowed on the Faisal Avenue a.k.a Islamabad Expressway, which is somewhere 80~90 kmph at max.

2nly, this is just a normal, urban sedan, and its braking, handling, road grip, etc. may not prove effective at such high speeds. GOD Forbid, something goes wrong, or something pops up on road suddenly out of nowhere (wild boar, truck, concrete blocks to stop / slow down traffic, etc.), then many things can go wrong.

I request, please drive at allowable speeds, and do not risk yourself, your car, loved ones, people who love you, etc.

And YES... An important thing: Yaris is not equipped with AT. Its equipped with rather CVT, which is altogether different from a conventional AT.

I do not think so. IMO, it depends on the price of the car, and not the type of transmission, unless / until the car is also getting mechanically insured.

YES, your point is right in the sense that prices of cars equipped with AT or CVTs / AGS / AMT, are high as compared to MT, so accordingly, insurance costs are also higher.

NOPE Dear, its not true and I strongly disagree here.

I have driven 03 personal cars equipped with CVT; Passo / Vitz in 1000 cc engine, and Nissan Tiida Latio with 1500 cc engine. I never faced any issues going uphill or down hill. Transmission and engine provided the reqd. braking power. The only thing you need is; choose the right gears.
