Toyota is going to discontinue Yaris sedan globally. Indian variant is already gone, Indus Motors also told to finish off available kits and discontinue. news is valid. reasons unknown. we will be left with only honda city option, or maybe GLI XLI corolla coming back ?

This news is not valid at all, bigger markets do get latest generations, as far as indian market is concerned, toyota has many other varients to continue, so they discontinued yaris because it wasnt selling well because india has hell of automotive brands, every old gen veicle will surely fail there, because people have more and more options .
Generally pakistani market gets the generation which gets retired generally. So we got 6th gen city we got yaris and all other vehicles have been 1 gen older.
SO DONT SPREAD PANIC BASED ON RUMORS.

The latest version of Yaris/Vios is already under development. Some time back articles regarding the RnD were shared as well. Dihatsu's RnD department has been tasked to complete this project.

0W20 is ok for Yaris but you should change the oil as per companies instructions which I think is 5k.

Had a very bad experience today.

Moderate rain but at an odd angle. Water came in from driver side door onto the door panel arm rest.
Door was fully closed with window rolled up completely.

Wondering what would happen in heavy rain?
Will get it checked next week.

Apparently everything looks fine though..

But surely there is a mild gap somewhere ... the whistling sound from driver side door at speeds above 120 km/hr and now this...

Utterly unacceptable for a brand new car

My last ride "Wagon R" was driven in torrential rains many a times but such a thing never happened even once. Even drove it through a nullah with knee high water when going to Kel.. was dead sure that water will enter inside but to my surprise it didn't...

Its really annoying if its happened. You should get it checked from the dealership. I have driven in heavy rain but no signs of water penetration was observed.

I also have driven in heavy rain at least a couple of times but this is the first time this has happened.
The car is just 3800 km driven and I am already noting a few issues here and there.

The passenger side seat also vibrates when passing over potholes. Apparently the bolts are fully tight. Plus there are already a few rattling noises coming from the various parts of dashboard... minimal but still annoying.

Actually the road leading to my son's school is in shambles and badly broken and even though the traffic moves at hardly 10 km/hr for a 3 km patch the car has to take a serious jolting everyday.

There is also early battery terminal corrosion on +ve Terminal... I mean what the hell is going on?

One of my FOB Key's battery was literally dead on arrival and Toyota dealership said that I should get it changed from any Ghari Wala .. as they don't have FOB Key Cells in stock.

Additionally the rubber around the door frame has left a mark on the body as if it has melted... I wonder if the quality is so low that it is coming apart even in this season what will happen in peak summers?

Either sadly I have gotten a lemon or Indus has really compromised quality assurance in favor of churning out large number of cars.

Already a few fellas have gotten their alternator belts and a few other parts replaced.
This is quite disappointing actually.

I jumped ship trusting Toyota's durability but I am sorry to say that Suzuki is doing a better job than this ...

Previously I had a Wagon R and the commute was the same on the same pathetic road.. yes it wasn't anywhere near as comfortable as Yaris but even after 3 years there were no sounds from the dashboard.

Another Cultus VXL AGS within the family follows the same route daily; interchangeably for dropping my kid and theirs daily but that too is going strong with no rattling sounds from dashboard despite the fact that its already 2 yrs old and driven around 18K...

Am too busy right now ...On my 5000K service .. I am going to bash their heads real hard ...

i wish it was total BS, however the person is an insider. he also told that 3 more cargoes of yaris were dispatched to lahore in the last week before an urgent day off. If yaris is selling in good numbers, why is indus agreeing to discontinue it. and more worse, it will leave clear monopoly for Honda with its city. maybe toyota is trying to rebrand itself as a luxury brand in PK? with only fortuner/revo/corolla cross/corolla hybrid in its lineup. and leave the lower brackets for chinese/honda

Seat vibration issue is also present in corolla 11th gen probably due to suspension setup adopted in 11th gen and yaris also (a raised one). 10th gen corolla had very good suspension setup not too raised yet very comfortable and stable. Moreover rattling issue is there in 11th gen corolla so in yaris may be (My car is 2k driven didn't experience till now but I reckon it'll rattle) that was also not present in 10th gen. My car gives humming sound while driving at slow speed also when A/C is turned on, these type of issues indicate that toyota ignored the quality control as in case of yaris.

As per my knowledge Indus installed a robotic assembly line for Yaris specifically. Read it some where...don't exactly remember where...

Why would manufacturer spend so much for something that is getting discontinued?

Besides all Corporate setups make a forward strategy ranging from 3-5 yrs sometimes even more. So the decision to discontinue Yaris in certain markets also would have happened a good 2 yrs ago atleast & Indus would have been well aware of the business strategy... that makes this an extremely unlikely scenario..
