Yes agreed to most extent, but I have a feeling this information specially the fuel average is getting old, the older auto transmissions were bad at fuel economy but not anymore. Well the road test will confirm average but Toyota India official figures also say CVT have better average by a thin margin.
And I guess you have to pay some price for the convenience in form of maintenance although they also say the modern CVTs last longer but than you never know what Pakistani roads & driving habits will do to them.
So I have inclination toward CVT specially with that manual M mode available (can be used in highway crossing by putting it in lower gear manually, no pedal shifter though which would have been easier & fun to use) also with hill assist & VSC & Traction control I guess the CVT will be good enough to drive in most situation.
Sometime you have to take a step ahead, leave the older comfort zone to advance, lolz
