Transfer of ownership on NICOP

Hi all,

I have a simple question to ask. I have a motorcycle in the name of a person who is not in Pakistan. I contacted the owner and got his NICOP (NIC of overseas pakistani.)
The motorcycle is registered in Islamabad, and I know the rest of the process.
I just want to ask that "Can i use his NICOP to transfer the ownership/registration of the motorcycle in my own name, by following the usual transfer of ownership process.

this will not be possible by having just his nicop, i believe you need power of attorney in name of any person in Pakistan on his behalf so his POA can act as owner and transfer his bike to your name. It may be possible if you already have a transfer letter signed by the owner without going through POA.

an overseas Pakistani can get a POA for all or specific task and get it attested from the Pakistan highcommission to be a valid in Pakistan.

technically for any ownership transfer nicop is sufficient,

if you already have open letter from owner then fine otherwise owner has to go through the hassle of getting power of attorney from paksitan embassy and send it to you for complete transfer.

bought a car from a person possessing NIICOP got the vehicle transfered from Isb without any hassle. Similarly 2 weeks ago sold my Bros car which was on his name and he 2 posseses NICOP. Car was again transferred to the name of the new owner from isb as it was isb regd. No problems faced. NICOP and CNIC of a person (if they have both) will always bear the same no. NICOP is used in the same way as CNIC . You can buy sell properties.open bank acct etc n similalry buy n sell cars. No problem at all.

Get it done through an agent. He won't charge u tt much but u'll hv no headaches

I think the question was if he can transfer only with NICOP without person being present here and/or no transfer letter!!
IF thats possible then it will be very easy for a relative/friend/driver to sell/transfer car without consent of an absent overseas owner of the car/bike.

there is no difference in NICOP/CNIC though.

if you have the transfer letter with his NICOP number & copy of NICOP transfer procedure is same as it is for CNIC. - By The way every NICOP have 2 addressess, One of Pakistan & other of place of adopted residence. just for information.

Sorry guys. I was so busy in buying my new car and with my family that totally forgot about the transfer and other stuff.
Anyhow, thank you very much for your replies. Soon I will go to the office to check out the situation.
Hopefully I will get it done as now I also have some relative in the Registration office RWP to help out in this regard. Naheen tau phir "Quaid-e-Azam zindabad".
