Transfer of Vehicle without Original File

Hi guys

Need a little help. I have a car that had been leased through a bank. With the lease over I need to transfer the vehicle to my name so I can sell it. The complication is that I don't have the original file as that has been misplaced. I do however have the original book as well as the banks NOC to transfer it to my name. So the first question is can the transfer take place without the original file and secondly if I need to get a duplicate file from the manufacturer then what would be the procedure and costs involved.

You would need to get the duplicate file issued. Then it will be transferred

Any idea how I can go about that and what it should cost?

I had spoken with some one at the excise dept who said it would cost about 35k, which seems a bit excessive. Thoughts?

What model is your car? In case it's older then 2007 your cars file is probably with the excise dept.

The car is a 2004 alto. The car was purchased from a showroom in Lahore and delivered to me by a dealer in Karachi. The dealer has since shut shop and the excise department says the file is not with them. The car is registered in Karachi.

Since the car was registered in Karachi, Their is no way it was registered without the orignal file. So its either with the bank, With the excise dept or you misplaced it.

In case you are sure you misplaced it, and have the NOC from bank, You would now have to get a FIR and a add published in the local news paper, and get the orignal news paper add and FIR to the excise dept to issue you a duplicate file.

In any case do contact some agent they can help you charging reasonable fee. Do contact your relatives or someone you know who got a car registered recently. or else their are several agents who can get it done for you after asking for required documents.
