Transmission oil change for Cruisetronic 1.6 2012

Hello Pakwheelers.
Quick query about my car a 1.6 litre Altis Cruisetronic 2012. It has clocked 80,000 km. Now As per manual it's auto transmission fluid has to be replaced. Toyota people tell me to do it. But outside mechanics/ even Toyota Sure sales people are advising against it as it leads to problems later on as per their knowledge.
Guys can you please shed some light on it. Also which oil to be used in case I go ahead with replacement.

Yes do it! It should be done after every 40k kms.

Go ahead with it and while you are changing the oil change the filter as well as in the transmission, there are many little metal specs. if the manual recommends it then go for it as nobody knows the car better than the people who made it. The most important thing is to use the right amount and the right type of oil.

Do not overfill (a lot of people do that).
Do not use any other type of fluid. Type is mentioned on the dipstick or in the owners manual.

When you say replace the filter, do you mean the fuel filter or is there another filter you are referring to?
BTW got that one changed when the car hit 80,000km

It varies depending on the car but some people drain the old oil using the drain plug and just refill it.

Others remove the oil pan to drain the oil and the oil pan (depending on the car) has a filter in it.

Its for filtering auto tranny oil and is separate from the fuel filter.

If the car manual does not recommends replacing the transmission filter then don't. Because that requires the transmission oil pan to be opened and warping it slightly causes the oil to leak and the original gasket between it is usually not available anywhere. Usually silicone is used which is also not the correct sealant for it. Check the level on dipstick, if up to the mark then drain the oil by drain bolt and measure how much oil comes out. Pour exactly the same amount of new oil back in.

And if they insist on opening the pan then do ask for a calibrated torque wrench.
