P1589 is for the G sensor recabliration. The ECU uses this sensor to detect "acceleration" this sensor is housed in the Air bag control module but shares information with the engine ECU.
There is a calibration called zero point calibration done via a scan tool for this. There are a few critical points to follow when doing this.
1 - car should be perfectly straight
2 - no other vibrations should be in the car, like passengers getting in and out, doors closing, someone dancing on the roof, lungi dance on bonnet etc.
3 - no errors on the SRS system should exist.
