Xulfiqar. Can you please review the below procedures of Changing CVT Oil i have read from this threads and summarize into two procedures. If anything is incorrect or anything to add please comment it so i will change it accordingly.
For CVT Oil Change of Toyota Vitz there are 2 procedures that senior member recommended on PW.
1- Open chamber Method
2- Drain by drain bolt/Plug and Refill Method
Important Points before change:
? CVT Oil Filler Port: Around 22 mm or 24mm bolt which marked as TC Bolt
? Toyota CVT TC Oil Sliver Tin Pack 4 Liter Oil is used. Part# 08886-02105.
? When draining the oil the temperature of oil is in between 36 C to 45 C
? CVT Fluid level check with engine running and CVT fluid temperature is between 36C to 45 C
Procedures:
Open Chamber Method:
Note: Use this procedure only when you want to clean chamber and Replace with New Transmission Oil filter.
Parts Needed:
ο Toyota CVT TC Oil Sliver Tin Pack Oil is used. Part#: 08886-02105
ο New Gasket to put back the Chamber/Sump. Part#: 35168-52040
ο O ring should be replaced which sits beneath drain tube. Part#: 90430-12008
ο 1 Liter of Petrol to wash the sump/Chamber.
ο CVT Transmission Oil Filter. Part#:
Note: Please make sure CVT Fluid temperature is between 36C to 45C when CVT Fluid draining from drain bolt/Nut.
1. Open Drain Nut/Bolt at the bottom of Chamber Cover using 6 mm Allen key. (Few oil drain out.)
2. Open Plastic tube inside Drain nut using same 6 mm Allen key. (Old oil drain out and wait till it drain out completely).
3. Clean and Install the Plastic long tube. Don?t put back the Drain Nut/Bolt.
4. Unscrew the bolts to open the bottom chamber/sump
5. Clean the sump, Magnet with petrol and dry them well
6. Replace with New Transmission oil filter panel. Don't clean transmission oil filter with Petrol.
7. Install new gasket on sump and Put back the sump by screwing all 15 bolts. Don?t use old gasket on sump and don?t put drain nut/bolt.
8. Open TC Nut
9. Fill the Oil till it start drains from the drain nut/bolt.
10. Start engine and wait for the fluid to warm up to specified temperature (36C to 45C). You can read it with a Toyota Tech stream tool. Then fill again with engine running till it overflows. Once it overflows stop filling and wait till the drip stops. You're done.
11. Close the Drain Nut/Bolt.
12. Stop the Engine
13. Close the TC Nut.
Drain/Refill Method:

8. Stop the Engine
9. Close the TC Nut.
CVT Fluid Level Check:
The only and correct way to check CVTF level in this gearbox is from the bottom sump nut with engine running and temperature between 36-45C, there should be a drip only and nothing more.
The level is checked by removing the drain plug. when between 36-45C it should only drip 1 drop per second and the car should be perfectly level when checking the level, if it?s not perfectly level, the reading will be bad
If you refill with engine off you will be "short of oil" in the transmission as the measurement in the unit is overflow type. Which means that when the transmission pump stops, some fluid will drain back from the torque converter and raise the level and if you remove the drain bolt to measure the oil it will come out as overflow. Mind you that if you do this on 80C transmission oil temperature you will drain out some oil which will then result in "low level"
That is why it is necessary to follow the prescribed way exactly. which is to fill the unit up with whatever was drained plus about 400 ml, then start engine and either invoke the flashing D sequence or use Toyota tool to measure oil temperature and check and adjust oil level in the given temperature range and close the sump plug. This ensures the oil level is 100% correct.
Also note that the car needs to be exactly straight (drive ready range level) when checking the oil level in the gearbox because if it is raised from the front the oil will level out askew and be pooled at the back of the sump and give incorrect reading when you try to check the level from the sump drain plug.
