Transmission oil change of Toyota Vitz/Belta/Passo/ (K410 Transmission)

Bro... how can we know the correct fluid temperature i.e 35 C? I have the OBD scanner but it doesn't show CVT fluid temp. I also visited Toyota guyz.. they also attached the scanner but couldn't find out the CVT fluid temperature.

a toyota techstream has a PID for transmission oil temperature - I find it hard to believe a toyota tool could not see it, It wont show up on a cheap code reader or a low cost scanner like torque unless you have downloaded extra PIDs for toyota.

most toyota dealerships I have seen use cheap launch scanners, they take ages to connect and arent even fully capable of active tests or all PIDs, they were all over my toyota intelligent tester asking where I got it from how much it costs etc, though I bet they do have techstream locked away somewhere as a dealership must have that but I have never seen them use it on cars but the manager does say they have it but its inconvenient to use or some other nonsense.

this is called "desi marka sarviss"

a moment of silence on the departed intelligence - I can take your bet about the laptop having the techstream locked away because they need to pay to update it (its not cheap) and I can up your bet that they also would not have seen a real DSO which is almost a necessity with these newer cars.

All this wager is based on my old experiences with them - when I would use my hydraulic testing setup on transmissions and some assistant mechanic would pipe up and say - "haan ye gauge hamare store mein rakha hai, ye kya cheez hai bhai"

They said if the oil is dirty, then the chamber need to be opened and all the oil should be replaced (labour charges 2500+tax)
otherwise they will just drain the oil and put new (laboour 600+tax)

But as my car's oil was not dirty and meter is genuine 50k kms, so they just drained the oil and poured new one (about 3.35 ltr of oil was poured from the 4 ltr can)

Total price was about 6200 Rs. for 4 ltr CVTF, and 600+tax for labour.

While Toyota I-9 said that they will open the chamber and then change oil, and their labour was 3000 Rs + tax.

Guys, how does your vitz CVT behave when starting from a complete stop(engine warmed up)?

does it have a short burst of acceleration and then rpms drops?

The entire fluid doesn't get drained out as you are not opening the pan. just the fluid in the sump gets drained out after you remove the plastic pipe inside. SO 1 can is enough. Also you dont need to pour in half a litre of oil to drain out, just a little will do.

Then you put in the plastic pipe and fill it up. Once its starts to overflow from below. You stop pouring and wait till it stops to a drip.

Make sure this is done with the engine running.

You mean to say is after the CVT fluid drain out put the drain tube fit in and start the engine and then start filling fresh CVT fluid until it start dripping fluid from bottom of drain tube and stop the engine once its stop dripping from bottom put back the drain bolt... right?

U can't put it in D without transmission oil, it would harm the transmission. I think it should be like
"After the CVT fluid drain out put the drain tube back and fit in. Start filling fresh CVT until it starts dripping from bottom of drain tube. Do not put the bolt back yet. Start the engine, put it in D and slowly fill the fresh CVT fluid again until it start dripping fluid from bottom of drain tube once more, now immediately ask the oil guy to plug back the bolt before stopping the engine or putting vehicle in N or P. Then, Stop the engine after the bolt has been put. Check for any leakage and also gently tight the screw if needed"

I think he is referring on gear lever on P then start filling the fresh fluid because car is Parked in P with Parking brake. Experts can you please comment on the above.

Without starting the engine. First fix the tube. Fill in the fluid and then once it starts overflowing start engine till it stops. Then fill again with engine running till it overflows. Once it overflows stop filling and wait till the drip stops. You're done.

Thanks for the update. I would have one question i read some where on PW that You should replace O ring which sits beneath drain tube it should be replaced every time the drain tube is opened is it correct?

What is the correct way to clean the Drain tube/Overflow tube?... is it with tissue or any clean cloth...?
