Transplanting FX and Bolan/Carry

Salaam all gurus and enthusiasts.

I am considering a project where I need to add power to rear wheels of FX. I suppose swapping out the original FX rear axle with the axle+differential of a Bolan should not be difficult?

Has anyone got technical info on the rear axle of Suzuki FX, Suzuki Bolan/ Carry?

Any technical thoughts on this?

For doing an axle + differential in fx you need to change the direction of the engine. the current engine arrangement is transversely mounted while to make it backheel you have to mount the engine in longitudinal direction .

And for that you have to make space inside the cabin in the firewall for the gearbox and the in the floor center for the shaft to pass from front to back.

Already fx has very less space, moreover the whole engine rooom has to be modified for installing mounts and relocating other parts.

if u have a good mechanic and a good pocket u can do it for a project. it will be a unique one.

It will be a unique project for sure but I guess FX has very little room and the the changes in the floor pan and the chassis to adjust for the drive shaft tunnel will be a challenge, let along the choice of the new engine, the gear box and their mounts all will be crafted... Which will.make it a one of and parts will become difficult... Plus the changes to adjust the rear axel tube cause of the location of the fuel tank...

You will need to be technically very sound yourself if you want to do the project cause local denters and fabricators will rip you off...

Well I never said anything about changing engine orientation.... 🤫
That isn't a concern for me.
The only issue right now is whether the rear axle of Bolan can be transplanted to fx as a bolt on part? They both use leaf springs. And I think their axles are the same length hub to hub?
Wonder if the mounting in axles is the same...? Would be mighty nice if someone could let me measure stuff on their Suzuki Bolan....

They won't be same. Both have different wheel base.
Bolan has solid rear suspension. Means axle housing. You cannot adjust the length of axles to adjust wheel base.
Rather then bolan. Search for japanese 660cc rear setup. And better to go all wheels then rear wheels.
That worth the hassle.

@ahsanonline sir you are missing the most critical physical attributes of an FX. The engine, transmission and drive shaft placement. FX engine bay and the undercarriage does not have space to accept the transmission bulge and drive shaft angle.

Fx also has the same suspension afaik. I'm simply wondering if the width of wheel hubs in both asked is the same, or nearly identical.....?

They are not same as bolan has a diff hanging in rear. Not sure about wheelbase between bolan looks wide. You can simply measure them.

Hi Ahsan, I was wondering did you manage to find out the answer if the dimensions and mountings of FX and BOLAN are identical and can be retrofitted to FX/Mehran if needed? Please share your thoughts. Regards
