Trip to Gorakh Hills

Dear All,

Planning a trip to Gorakh Hills this coming weekend i.e. 7 & 8 August (on 4x4) but only if all is well and there's no flooding in Sindh as the flash floods are expected to pass in a day or two.

I noticed only 1 or 2 threads/trips to Gorakh Hills on PW.com. I assume people avoid going there due to law & order situation in Dadu District. Heard these days development work at Gorakh are being carried out.

Any information/guidance on Gorakh Hills or way to there would be highly appreciated.

Pretty nice place to visit but u need a strong 4X4 due to high gradients and sharp turns, the road is generally ok but gets very tricky near Khanwal pass,
security situation is okay-ish, as long as you come home well before it gets dark...
the best route is N55 to Sehwan from there you can take a side road directly to Johi, alternatively u can go through Dadu bt that will add 20 km to your journey if you go from Sehwan to Dadu and then to Johi, Wahi pandi and then onwards to Gorakh Hills,
Development work underway is police posts and some road work from Wahi Pandi onwards but till Wahi Pandi you're on your own so its better to have some security, section 144 is currently in place so bear that in mind, Rangers sometimes kick up a fuss but once you get on the highway they dont way anything as long as you have your weapons license etc in order...

Have a 2001 Surf with 3.0 liter diesel engine and have crossed Babusar Top, Saiful Maluk lake, Dosai plains etc on it. So Gorakh of about 6000 ft shouldn't be a problem for it

Yes, let's wait for HB to pipe in. You'll Insha Allah get all the info that you need.

HB will also be able to better advise about the law and order situation, but it may be not as bad as some say. My relatives went there earlier this year with their families and stayed overnight. But you should watch out for four-legged creatures if not for two-legged ones. I'm sure you're aware of this precuation, but still, make it a point to discard any left-over edibles properly. Hanif bhai told me porcupines frequent the peak during the summer.

Gentlemen,

Reviving my old thread as this time I'm seriously planning to make a trip to Gorakh Hills either in December or in Janaury.
If anyone knows how to book the newly constructed guest house or has the contact details, please share.
