Last Summer ( June 2015) , I had traveled to see Malot Temples located near Kallar Kahar. These are basically 2 temples located on the edge of a ridge in the salt range about 10km or so from Kalar Kahar Interchange on the motorway. I didn't know much about them apart from the fact that they seemed over a thousand years old and stood at a steep cliff in the salt range ( as seen on google Earth). It is a great historical sight to see which many people are unaware of. On a clear day, locals told us that you can see a fair distance but on the day I went their it was hazy so couldn't see too far.
Route:
1) From Islamabad or Lahore, take Motorway and get off at Kallar Kahar interchange
2) Once you get off at kallar kahar interchange, go in the direction of Choa Saidan Shah. The road is in fine condition .
3) after you travel about 2 or 3 kilometers, you have to take a turn to the Right as a road leading towards Caruli Village. This road is also in good condition. You will pass by a large cement factory in a few minutes after which the road becomes narrow so a single car can pass, however it is well paved with no potholes.
4) about 3 further kilometers will lead you to Choi Malot Village. You can take you car all the way till the paved road ends. The road ends about 100 meters short of the temples.
From here its just a walk to the 2 temples, each stands over 10 meters high and seem to be unpreserved , damaged due to rains etc, but are a splendor.
