Trip to Murree on Muharram

Friends,

On upcoming holidays of 9-10 Muharram I am planning to visit Murree for 2days with my family and kids.

Can anyone suggest if all highways from Lahore till Murree will be open with no hazards on the way as well as Murree and its surroundings? I have plan to start my travel in late night from lahore till early morning in murree on 9th muharram.

It will be great if someone can tell me crowd situation during Muharram Holdays?

Although I hate to visit public places during public holidays but I dont have enough time before and after muharram.

I will be driving my own Aspire1.5

Aoa. I spent last year Ashura holidays in Murree with my family. Late night travelling is no problem as far as muharram procession is concerned.
But you have to leave main murree city by 10 a.m. on 9th and 10th Muharram because roads will be closed from 10 a.m to 6p.m.
It was not very crowded by guests at Murree. Hotels were at very cheap rents. I got 2 luxury rooms at Rs. 9000 for 3 days and 2 nights.
I visited Patriata chairlifts on 9th Muharram and spent 10th Muharram visiting Neelum point, Ayubia and Nathia Gali. Then came back to hotel at Murree at around 7 p.m.

At a point you can be right but this may not be the case throughout the murree and for whole day. Even then I should keep on researching about my expected tour on these dates. Thanks Bro

Thanks for replying and am feeling comfortable that you have already spend time on these dates.
Will all the murree & connecting roads will be blocked or just Mall road?

I don't prefer to stay on Mall Road. I always find some resort type place around Bagh e Shaheedan (Kashmir Point) for better commute instead of getting stuck at GPO.

Your given plan seems reasonable to exit before 10am and entry after 7pm but I will be reaching murree at around 7-8am morning so I planned to leave Murree after some rest & Jumma Prayer i.e. 2-3pm.

Now this all depends upon roads, if I would be able to move from Kashmir point to Jheeka Gali and then to anywhere bhurban, neelum or patriata.

Also tell me about commute till Murree from Lahore? I think M2 to Kashmir Highway to Murree Express Way will not be any issue.

Reaching Murree from any route will be no problem at 7 - 8 a.m. but taking some rest till afternoon may make you stuck in hotel
Police starts announcements early morning that all surrounding roads will be closed till evening.
People from all surrounding areas join procession at GPO and use each and every road linked to it.
I will advise you to dont take any risk, make a short stay at Murree for breakfast and take rest at some other place where u want to spend the day.
