Trip to Neelam Valley on Mehran

how to book this local govt. rest house in Taobutt???

Rana sahib I admit that I failed to collect such information for PW family. This time I was not as good information collector as I am. As fobak mentioned that this is local Govt. guest house, so I think it can be booked from Muzaffarabad.

Thanks for asking brother. First I camped at AJK Guest house lawn in Asghar Abad, just before Muzaffarabad if you go from Kohala side. Next I camped at AJK Tourism Lawn in Karen. If you are on car and not planing for KEL, its very good in sense that two most difficult 'Nalah' are just before KEL, its real challenge. You can visit Kutton on car, no issue in it. In kutton you can stay at Govt. colony called water power or hydro power colony. They have very good rooms for family and bachelors.
I must say that I totally felt secure during all my visit. People of Neelam are so kind and good. By the way what car you are planing to take with?

Thanks Bilal... I intend to take my 2010 Xli and I will be alone on the trip. Can you please give me detailed road rivew until Kutton and Keran, last thing that I will do is to molest my ride.

Also did AJK Karen allow wash room facility for campers and how much did they charge?

Brother if you drive with patience nothing molest will be happen to your car. I drove up to KEL and not a single floor touch. The road will disappear after 3-4 kilometers ahead from Muzaffarabad.
There are two portions of AJK Tourism guest house in Karen. One big building is leased and second small building is still with them. So go there in small one and ask for Mr. Tariq supervisor or Mr. Rana. They will allow lawn where I camped and you can see in picture. I used their washrooms and kitchen, they charged nothing. As there is no cellular service so I was worried to inform my family. Mr. Tariq was so kind and he even allowed me to make phone call from his land line without any charge. You can get very good food from them too. But obviously they charge for this and charges are very economical.

bilal bhai salam...yar i m planning to visit this beautiful neelam valley in june or july with 3 of my cousins...please just explain briefly that how many days should be enough for this trip if we plan to go till taobat. just to tell u that we will be leaving from islamabad..so where should we stay for a night and which places shall we visit? infact i have visited this beautiful valley but way back in 1990.i will be waiting for ur reply..thanks.

there is no cell phone coverage in kashmir ahead of muzzafarabad coz of proximity with occupied kashmir

Dont underestimate Potohar. this is one of the best offroader due to its high clearance and engine to body weight ratio. the only negative point is its bumpy and uncomfortable ride. reduce air pressrure to 24 lbs and you will get a little improvement (almost like Mehran).
when its offroading, you can challange any top of the line 4X4
