Asalamualekum

Yesterday My friend (Wasay Ahmed) and I (Afnan) experimented with the Idsi engine.

Our mission was to clean the Spark Plugs, Adjust the tappets and Clean the Throttle body, But unluckily we were short of a 12 # Spanner:( ....we cleaned the spark plugs and the throttle body though:d

Wasay Bhai Busy in opening the Spark Plugs.

Opening 8 Spark Plugs is a time consuming job specially when 4 of them are behind the engine|-)

Tools, Plug Jackets and manifold cover all make up a mess!!!

All the plugs are atlast removed:d

While Wasay was busy opening the Intake Manifold i decided to clean the plugs lool .....Rusty Plug:(:

It took us Half an hour to open this Nut coz it was just below the Intake Manifold and we didnt have a spanner to open up the manifold first......and when this nut did open we came to know that the tappet cover couldnot be draged out easily from below the intake manifold:@

We then decided to clean the throttle body by sparying in the petrol.........unfortunately i cudnt capture the throttle body being sprayed as i was busy starting the car...but beleive me the sound of the exhaust was awesome at the time the petrol was being sprayed in the throttle body!!......A pic just before the spray:

Atlast after fighting with the Idsi for 4 hours we Partially completed our task!!! and the engine seems refreshed..Walaa!!

I dont think so.....they are at the front and have only 4 plugs...thats what i hate abt the idsi.

Bro Honda recommends the total tuning of the car at abt 20,000 KM's which also includes the cleaning of the throttle body.....but i cleaned it after 10,000 KM's becoz of the Airfilter i have put......My friend this air filter is a sports air filter and lets more air to pass through it at one time.
When more air passes through, more Fuel is also drawn in and the car runs a rich and it gives more power output....Hence it is a very important tool for the basic modification of the car.

Yeah Farukh Bhai u are right.......This DIY was going to be impossible for me without Wasay and besides i also didnot have any of the tools....so he supported me in many ways and i learnt allot from him......He surely is going to be a good mechanic when he grows up

hey bro, nice DIY.

Just a question, that is alot of rust on the spark plugs. Were u able to look down into the chamber to make sure it hasn't spread?

I guess the petrol has a significant amount water in it to cause it to rust like that?

Or maybe the plugs weren't seated properly in the chamber causing air to enter?

Anyone else come across this?

Bro the plugs start to rust the moment they start to work.....these plugs were put on 8000 km's before.

As it is a fact that Air contains a lot of moisture so the Moisture goes in with the air into the cylinders, and as the spark plugs are inside the cylinders so rust deposits on its tip. Engine Internals like Crankshaft are protected from the rust as they are displaced in Engine oil. So it is a good practice to clean the spark plugs after 10,000 Km's

MASHALLAH wasay bhai is very very skilled person....n really,mechanic kbi b itnay shok say gari ka kam nai kartay jitnay shok sy ap logo ny kia.ur car was alreaady fast when i took a test drive,nd i believe ab or b improve hoi hogi.throttle cleaning this way is wat i hav done several times on my car too..but didnt oppened the plugs.dnt hav the right tools.

lakin yar afnan,let me tell u one thing.ye jo spray aap ny kia hy na,it hardly makes a difference.mai b yehi use karta tha very often.lakin when i got my car tuned from honda ppl,they oppened all the throttle body,detaching it frm the engine n os k saray parts alag kar k they cleaned it.i was surprised to see k although i used to clean it regularly,phir b os k andar buht carbon/dust etc thi.nd when it got cleaned,it clearly made a difference.
