Just got the car checked at Toyota 3s today and their preliminary diagnosis is that it's tappets sound from the engine due to faulty VVT control that's not letting the oil to flow freely at low speed, however as the car speed increases, flow gets bit normal and thus no audible tappet sound. However this can only be confirmed once they open the tappets covers and do the detailed analysis. If required VVT contr?ler will be replaced and tappets adjustment will be done. however according to 3s, they don't keep vitz VVT contr?ler and that needs to be purchased from bilal ganj (Kabli).
Toyota is charging around 8.5k for labour only.
Questions.
1). Is it safe/recommended to open the tappets cover and do detailed analysis let's say by removing something from engine. Can it cause some major screw-up?
2). Is their preliminary diagnosis somewhat correct... Any experience?
3). Is it safe to get VVT contr?ler replaced without any subsequent effect on the engine.Any risks?. Is it a common procedure?
Comments and suggestions please???
