Here just to discuss about Turbocharging before deciding or doing something about it & getting demotived with the amount of homework time & money it costs !!

Made this thread cause I've searched/seen a lot of project threads where people get DEMOTIVED & scared by the amount of money time & etc costs

If you are installing a turbo on a engine that was originally naturally aspirated, you need to redo the fuelling and the timing, which is not a very easily doable thing on a stock ecu.

An aftermarket engine management system is the first thing you should get, even before the turbo.

learning to tune will save big money, jugaar will blow the engine and the turbo

I can answer this question because i wanted to turbo the engine but got demotivated. A lot depends on the car. My civic exi would have needed hondata, headers, a new cold air intake, downpipe, intercooler, BOV and wastegate and some engine modifications to install a turbo. My engines compression is not very great atm. All of this with labour and other misc charges would have cost upwards of 150,000 but i think it will be nearer to 200,000. Even with all of this there will be other issues and my super duper reliable car would never be the same and since this is my only cari cant risk it. I would get 40 ,50 more horses maybe 60 at most and thats being extremely optimistic. Thats why i am not going to install a turbo in my poor car.

People Get DEMOTIVED about almost everything around here
I love to search out thread of Projects want to read about these modifications but most of the time I click on these threads of Project Restoration etc I don't see any constructive advice or something like that

I didnt get demotivated. I cant afford one right now. If you have a project car then please by all means boost it. If i wanted more power i would do a kswap. I would get more power, better economy and great reliability in my civic. I will try to build a project car in a few years inshallah but cant do so right now.

current dollar to rupee conversion rate, fact that we need to import everything and lack of technical expertise.

These are the reasons every "enthusaist" prefers to swap a bilal gunj engine instead of bolting a turbo

I think people should start with the basic mods like upgrade coil packs suspension & adding strut bar one by one it would be easy if one considers engine swap with having any experience or homework it would be a mess

There is future for these upgrade if they were manufactured in Pakistan & swapping an engine is also an big task itself

i have seen alot of thread like this. i want to turbo this, that bla bla.
end up staying stock. they are not demotivated by us. they don't have budget and not actually that, the Passion to do it. priority differences comes in play.
anyway boosting an engine is more difficult then swap.

Yeah coilovers should be the first upgrade. Strut bar is not necessary for normal cars. Will swap k20 or k24 depending on the availability and condition. I have learnt a lot from beginner posts like yours so i would always look forward to more

PW used to be very informative & the forum itself is a great platform to learn but I've clicked a lot of link for projects
I want to do this I want to that & at last people decide keep it stock !!

Yes. Those people doesn't gave up because of motivation. They gave up because of no passion in it.
They just like it. " oh that's cool i want that " when they see circumstances " oh no I better have something else"

Well yeah you are tight but passion will only get you so far. So what car and engine do you have ? Sometimes a swap is better than a turbo like in my case

I planned, I did and its still there grand turbo project... But I was ready to spill money like water... So that's the reason people get demotivated since they dont have good savings for such projects...

I did it properly...
Bought emanage ultimate, aem before turboing it..
And then slowly purchased the parts.
Like fmic, turbo, bov, gauges

And then one day started the hunt for making turbo manifold.. Then made oil splitter for turbo input and the. Output. Next after few days parked the car and after I saved some money.. I went for fmic piping. And that was the real time to experience some boost.

It was amazing, the boost pull...
All three gears were spinning wheels.
And stutututu sounds with anti lag were giving eargasms...

Thats how it happens.

i was looking for explanation for Boost Lag & Turbo Lag

The basics i came across is as follows:

The lag comes from the time it takes the engine to create enough exhaust pressure to spin the turbo and pump compressed intake air into the engine and is longest when the engine is in a low-rpm, low-load cruising situation

Turbo lag is the time between mashing the throttle and feeling the rush of torque from a turbocharged engine

i need to learn more for the subject for petrol & diesel engines, specially the term "engine power band"

please .. if some of you can offer further details
