ive got a dome tweeter, yesterday i found out it wasnt working, probably due to electric leak and over loaded some frequency on it.

anyway the problem is, the replacement is not avaliable and repair is the only option.

anyone knows who does dome tweeter repair in Lhr. most probably the coil isnt burnt, the side wires which come out coil is disconnected. it needs a stable hand soldering.

Go to Hall road...!
At the main,where some antiques shops...Next to there a repair wala @ corner named as Arif....charged you max 50 rs,and you will be done....

cant even cross cantt area in 50 rs of petrol these days. forget abt reaching hall road. thats a overcrowded place.

no place near by to buy or wind coils nearby? we need more shops on otherside of city seriously.

anyway i had some free time so opened it up,

will try to get coil fixed

sir you check the continuity of the coil ?
is it fried?
or ending points(wires) of coil are broken?

what happened was i took off jacks from power and pre without switching off speakers.

i dont have meter to check the coil, id take it to electronic repair shop and ask the guy to chk, usually those guys go to hall road and get it fixed.

i had another pair of onkyo bookshelves im using meanwhile. but this was better speaker

tweeter is gone,, bye bye, cant be replaced, hall road donest have technology to replace coils which are not inside magnet.

midrange is open from back and has its own cabinet inside. woofer does not come out, its fixed from back, maybe from bass mount back to cabinet, there is a wooden log fixed inside cabinet. whole box is heavy and 3rd order bass port. drivers can run with 4ohm amps, first i thought to disconnect tweeter from other speaker and use the pair for mid and bass. meanwhile using external 4 ohm tweeters.

cut off frequency for tweeter is 10khz upto 45khz on passive network.

tweeter is back and alive:)

one expert somewhere in back side of hall road was able to fix it for rs500/-

its working. hardly any audible difference between original and fixed one

its no more a DIY but who cares anyway. the thing works and tht matters
