Tyre Recommendation For Toyota Grande 2018

Hello everyone, hope you're all doing good.

I'm a bit confused about which tyre's to get for Corolla Grande 2018. Right now, I'm using the OEM, which are Yokohama Advan A460. My experience with these has been amazing, and the car is driven around 60,000kms with out a single puncture.

However, for a change, I want to go upsize, that will be 215/55/R16 this time. Can anyone suggest the best tyre's and model amongst Continental, Pirelli, and Michelin? Right now, I'm leaning towards Continental UC6 OR MC5. However, due to lockdown, I'm unable to find fresh tyres. My car is driven, on average, about 5000km each month on motorway. Keeping that in mind, which tyre's should I go for? And why?

It's your choice but I would never recommend you going for an upsize. The size which company recommends is the best for your vehicle. Further up to you. If you can find pirelli I think very good tyre even better then continental. Thanks

I'm using upsize Pirelli's for my 2nd car, went for 225/55/R16 on 2020 Civic. I had my reservations about going upsize before that, but the drive, road grip and comfort level are much much better, there is no doubt about it. However, that car is for inner city use only. Wouldn't going upsize provide better drive on long routes? I travel between lahore and islamabad every week.

Another reason for going upsize is, there is just soo much gap at the back end of Grande. With such a nice car, it look stupid to have such high car from back end.

Agreed even if you upsize pirelli is higly recommended as per my knowledge. As far as look is concerned I agree with you argument. How about 205 size?

Toyota Grande comes equipped with 205. That's why i'm going for 215.

Thank you for your reply. Can you guide as to how much it will effect fuel consumption, incase i go for 215/55/R16? Right now, with stock size i get an average of around 14.5 on long drive, at about 125-130 km/h speed.

Not much options available in that size.
Also, not much difference in 215/55 R16 and 195/65 R15 if you compare both.
@op if you want comfort and good driving dynamics then go for UC6. If you want less comfort but a more grippy drive then mc5.

More or less there won't be any difference. My friends are using the same size in their cars.

One last thing, if you could help me out, As tyrepoint is the only authorised dealers of Continentals, i would only buy continentals from them. As of today, UC6 are only available from august 2019, whereas MC5 will be available in fresh import (2020 manufactured) in 3 weeks time. My question is, would it be alright to get a year old manufactured tyres? They quoted 17,500 for UC6.

I v used almost all sizes rims in Corolla 14 inches to 17 inch.
Actually in grande upsize will effect as to ma experience
215/55/16== more sticky to road even when u will overtake on single roads of Punjab zig zag ur shoulders will exuent n tired. Handle sakhut hojaiga gari morna mushkil hoga.
Speedo reading will be erred 2 percent. Ur actual speed will be more than ur meter.
Bumps Kam lagay gain. Fuel average pe asar paraiga.
Pick Kam hojaigi. High speed pe handle vibration hogi .
Cornering achi hojaigi.
205/60/16
High speed pe aerodynamics change honay pe stability issue hoga. Grip Kam hogi. Bumps achay digest hongay. Cornering pe grande 2014 wali feel aigi.

Yoko 460 s v noisy go for another model v552 Advan tyres age 25 k to 35 k.
Don go Conti it will not give u drive such u expect. Bridgestone not gud idea.
Michilin xm energy. Michilin pilot sport 3 or 4.
Dunlope LM 704. All gud soft tyres having less noise than 69 db Or if u can get import then go for michilin cross climate plus......or choose from tyre uk

My suggestion would be to wait, and get fresh, 2020 made tyres, after 03 weeks.

I don't thiny it will impact mileage much but it will be unnecessary burden on suspension for sure. 17 inch oem also comes in same model but that's a different profile

Tyres have shelf life of 3-4 years. That is totally upto you.

Uc6 is superior then mc5 as far I know.

I will go with uc6 anyday. 215/55 R16 fits perfectly.
It is closer to the size that comes in 2014-2017 grande. Width increases slightly.
Diameter increase puts a bump on acceleration and fuel economy.

Sir are you sure you are going about this the right way?Increasing tyre size might fill up a bit of tyre well but equally will raise ur car higher off the ground.Even while upsizing, Tire and rim combo is chosen very carefully to mimic the exact diameter of factory tyre in order to make the car ride at same height and respond to road imperfections the same way. If you really want to loose some height the only authentic way to do that would be either coilovers or lowering springs.Coilovers Id suggest as u can make ur car only slightly lower aswell so it doesnt hurt ur day to day commute. If u just want to go for a larger tyre thats upto you. Tyres on grande are the best any manufacturer has ever given off the showroom floor in Pkdm cars.
