You can check the integrity of all rubber parts like belts, tyres and rubber mats by pressing/squeezing them hard (like tyre's side wall, timing belt's internal portion). If it cracks, it is not worth usage....

Never ever think that 4 year old tyres are safe
I once bought dunlop tyres(sp sport 900 I guess) for my dad's corolla. After about 4 months(from purchase) my father was driving on motorway when one of the tyres suddenly burst. Allah ka lakh lakh shukar hai kay he was able to control the car and bring it to a safe stop. Afterwards pata chala kay tyre ander say phata tha. Later on when we checked the date of the tyre it was 4 years old. From then on we only purchased tyres which were not more than 6-12 months old. One can also use his common sense in this matter and buy only latest variants/models of tyres which one can easily find from net. Then chances of restamping are vitually 0. I guess that paying a couple of K more is better than risking ur life

I Changed my rims of city ... And us pagal nay aik purana tire laga dia tha dunlop same type ka ... when i parked my car ... air was gone tire ki hawa phuss aglay aik tire ki ... i went to him he again put some glue and said now its fine ... Then it again hawa nikal gayee ...

So i went in anger then he changed the tire and said tire kharab hai shayed lol hahaha ...

0503 means 2005 ke 3rd week

0219 means 2002 ka 19th week

If your buying new tyres then even dont buy 2008 tyres just see the date in the tire or in the cover

now 2010 is comming so if someone is buying new tires in 2010 then dont buy 2009 dated tires.............................................

Is there any shop in Lahore which sells Pirellis, and how much would a set of 175/70 R13 cost. I am not sure but I think this is the correct tire size for the Cultus.

BTW any other suggestions, for example the Yoko A.Drive, the GoodYear Gt3, and any Bridgestone tires (as they have a company outlet here), which would you recommend.

I dont think it is possible to get tyres in retail as new as 6 months all the times. None of the major brands are produced in Pakistan. From the time they are produced in the factory in Japan or anywhere else. It takes at least 3 months to get these tyres to the actual importer and then from there to retailer another 15-30 days and that is the fastest time if tyres come directly to Pakistan from the factories and are custom cleared in Pakistan. Even in this case due to long delivery time importers order big quantities at one time. Not all of them are sold in one month so they are kept and then sold all year around sometimes slow moving sizes takes even longer to be sold. That is why you get tyres in Pakistan which are mainly between 5 months to a year old.
Most of the tyres in Pakistan come from Dubai through Afghanistan in that case you can add another couple of months on the date before they will be available in the market
This is true that tyres start getting harder with time, but it takes much longer than 6 months especially if they are stored the proper way as recommended by the manufacturer which is mainly indoor and away from water.
On average a tyre life on the car is one year. The European tyre law which is really strict due to higher speed limits on motorway, allows tyre wholesalers to stock and sell tyres upto 18 months old and for retailer the time is upto 2 years. So the tyre can be upto 2 year old when it goes on your car and after using it for a year you sould start considering to change if you see signs of wear and tear. Based on this ideal shelf life of a tyre is 2 years and on the road life should be 3 year +.
Also I have seen in Pakistan that people press the tyres to see how soft it is thinking the softer is better. This is not true in all cases. If you want to see how soft the tyres is you should check the side wall. If a tyre is too soft that is also not good as that means its not strong enough to handle hits on the road.
You take any of the major brands like Michelin, Pirelli, Goodyear and compare them with Dunlop or Yokohama. Dunlop and Yokohama will always be softer and most of the time cheaper in price than any of the major brands and the reason for that is they are produced with less rubber that is why they dont give you as much mileage or road grip as Michelin, Gy or Pirelli. If you pick up a tyre made by Pirelli and pick up a Dunlop or Yokohama you will notice the difference in the weight of the tyre.

there is no DOT code for manufacturing date on general tires. instead two alphabets are written.
how to confirm manufacturing date for general or euro tires?

they dont have date printed and there is no way to check
generals are locally made and cannot be very old.. they manufacture according to market demand

A Single Tyre Shelf Life is 5 to 6 after the fitting it will decrease to 2 years i hope you find the answer.
