Tyre/wheel size suggestion for Baleno GTI (1600cc)

Hi,

My baleno GTI's tires have been expired now and need replacement. They come with company fitted GTI 14 inch Alloy Rims. I have two options now:

1. Replace whole wheels with 15 inch steel rims and tires. But which size tires??

2. Keep the same size rims and buy new tires of 185/65R14 size

Which of these options is better and what are the benefits and cons of each of them?

185/65R14 is a good size i will suggest you to stick with them. And just buy new tyres.

I would personally suggest to stick with the stock tire sizes and rims, because your vehicle has been designed and tested on it.

If you will be going on larger rim sizes and tire sizes, then, cost will increase (cost of just stock, OEM recommended tires VS Cost of bigger tires and new Rims), along with many other factors, which are explained below:

Keep stock size......spend on fresh,good brand and quality tyres......and Don't forget to check ur rims for any rust and malalignment

Thanks to all for reply. I was thinking of bigger wheels because I thought they will provide more road grip and cornering ability and better braking. Isn't that so? Or there is no such effect of bigger tires?

What if I just use 185/70/R14 instead of 185/65/R14??

No difference in grip or braking with 185/70R14 in comparison to 185/65R14. You have to go wider for increasing grip.

Then what size in case of wider tire? 195/65/R14?? Will it fit the rim as well?

It will fit legit in the rims but might touch fenders.
If it came with 185 stock then 195 wouldn't be any issue.

I researched on it a bit on online tire recommendation websites. I guess if I want broader tires I'll have to use the following sizes:

195/60/R14 or 195/55/R14

Or 205/55/R14

Need to check which one of these really work. But I just want to make sure that using broader tires will really result in "Better Road Grip & Braking Capability"

They’ll also effect your fuel economy by a lor

Go for 195/60R14. You will get better grip and braking.
