UET vs LUMS vs others

AOA everyone. i am currently in As level at the city school ravi campus lahore. i got decent grades in O level(3 A stars and three A and two b). InshAllah will get good results in A level too.

My job target is FFC (fauji fertilizer company). I wish to become an engineer (electrical or mechanical).
My family suggests that target UET and foreign universities arent an option. Now i am confused as to what institute is the most popular with local employers. Lums has started electrical engineering. I believe i will be best polished at this institute.

what would you guys recommend. plus how do i prepare for the entry tests?

Find a LINK is FFC best and simple way, other thing is there is No sure way how you would get in there. Plus there are many more employers who give same or better package.

I dont know what type of a person you are but as per me UET is more of the FSC and nerdy place there is no life there, guy with o/a level background will get fedup.

Furthermore IF you are going for engineering or being a doctor its really not your choice

All depends on entry test and where they put you in.
Give entry tests of UET, GIKI, Lums, Nust

which ever gives you admission in Electrical or mechanical will be the best.

UET= No life(50,000 yearly fee i think
GIKI= awesome place(best as per me) 300,000 + eating and stuff
Lums= Good but dont know details of their faculty members and stuff. 300,000 though i am not sure
Nust= good one but you will have to do bit of army thingys, obey timing stuff blah blah fee is less then others but more then uet i guess

qwerty my dad was in ffc, but there is no chance of me getting a job through a link. system hi aisa hai, and my family tradition is to never use such means.

i lived 14 years of my life in FFC's township near sadiqabad, it was a great lifestyle, i want to get that back.thats why it is my main priority, i never had a taste for other countries.

i often heard people say the same thing about UET and they used to advise me lums, they say it will further polish me, thats why im considering lums. i can consider nust as im not that dheela type, i like the discipline in military organizations

If ur willing to go for engineering then try to get in NUST (prior to) , GIKI and LUMS
NUST - best Engineering standard in PAK so far
GIKI - best location + far better than UET
LUMS - Closest

distance doesnt matter actually the more the better (ek bahana gari hi mil jaye gi :P), so i guess uet is out of the list and the war is between nust and lums. but tell me which out of all these universities is the most compatible with our local employers (filhal forget what we discussed above, just give an unbiased opinion) . i mean which universities' students are most preffered. ill try and get this info from someone in FFC too

when you will give entry test No one knows where you will get selected+No idea of which faculty you will get it.

EE is top on merit then comes ME.

Well it doesnt matter from where u r getting ur degree. i think u should opt mechanical first and electrical second. . its all about luck , ur degree, ur GPA and reference.
If u r lucky enough to get admission in all above universities.

2. NUST
3. UET
4. others

Bro simple advice khoob mehnt kro or UET, Lums, Nust sb me try kro all these institutes are good.But i'll suggest u Nust because of there lab facilities and learning enviroment. I have done my graduation from UOl. But getting a good job in FFC is surely depends upon your skills which will be developed in u during your academic careers.
Don't worry and study as much as u can.

There are tuition centers which prepare you for the entry test it best to get admission there.

okay i think we are required to apply to universities in A2(second and final year of A level). so what would be the suitable time to join such centres? plus is their course specific to each university or is it preparation for all of them?

Bro if you get good grades in A levels then you must go for LUMS. LUMS electrical engineering is very dynamic. in UET you follow a track like donkey while in LUMS you chose your own destiny; you take whatever courses you want and make your own combination which differentiates you from other students and gives you a competitive edge when you are being interviewed for jobs.

In UET you will be mostly khajal khuar after graduation while in LUMS you will get job or foreign uni scholarship even before you graduate. you will have many extracurricular activities to enhance your leadership skills. you will study with some of the most rich and talented students of pakistan so you will build some invaluable connections for which you will thank LUMS forever.

LUMS has the most advanced faculty in elictrical engineering plus extremely sophisticated labs and equipment plus humungous and very impressive building. banday ka waisay hi parhnay k dil karta hai.

if you want to enjoy your four years then LUMS is a the best option you have. if not LUMS then consider NUST. UET is the last option.

fee for four year engineering program will be 2 million rupees + other kharchay.

i am saying all this because i graduated from LUMS this year though not as electrical engineer.

Bro FFC is not the end of the world. Why are you forgetting PEPSI, Unilever, P&G, Coca cola and Engro who pay up to 80,000 starting to LUMS graduates while UET people never get more than 25,000 rupees.

i have also done o and A levels. but i was pre med. one thing i tell you..
you cannot get into any good college without reading fsc books alongside Alevel syllabus.. except lums and giki
pakistans system is made for rattafication and not concepts. i have gone through the same trouble.
and i suggest people who want to stay in pakistan to always go for fsc not Alevels.
back in my time your A star was our A your A was our B and your b was our C
i had 4 As and 4 Bs which makes 4A+ and 4 As for your current pattern.
but i ended up going to a private medical college because i refused to study fsc.. why should i do two syllabus ?
so coming back to topic
for computer sciences go to fast islamabad.. best option. easy admision affordable college and a peaceful city
uet is for fsc folks.. study fsc or you wont get into merit list
Giki is good and so is lums but they are really high up on the merit list.
so to conclude theres no alternative to hard work... just go for lums.. study really hard.. give SAT 1 and SAT 2..
