UET vs LUMS vs others

this is the most important thing to remember when you compare yourself with others.

Who gets the best paid jobs? Its not matter of luck:
1. extraordinary networking skills/socialization skills/extrovert
2. experience/extracurriculars
3. CGPA

if u think commerce is just debit credit, u are mistaken! what are u doing? b.com? n what do mean by charm? n some of the highest earning jobs i ve come across were commerce/accounting related. u need to widen ur horizon...

hold your horses boy, i know you are a commerce student too. By saying Debit/Credit, I was just trying to be sarcastic, failed attempt though. I am M.COM student at university of karachi and yes its not about debit/credit only, i was working as an Accounts Officer in a pvt firm, neither it was only related to debit/credit. Currently employed in a multinational IT firm alhamdullilah, its only my preference that i like technology field or may be its like "insan kise haal main khush nahi rehta".

no u didnt offend anyone. theres nothing u said that wud offend anyone. but the way u (chose to) put the things made it look like u dont have enough info about the field. but obviously u do.
so u are working in an MNC in ur favorite industry and yet u say theres no charm? is that fair? as for being a avg student, i myself used to be a below avg student, but i changed myself... u shud try it too... trust me, sky is the limit when u're working in commerce...

people are against UET because it has merit... Scoring a good score in uet entry test doesnt qualify you to be selected, but it takes a real need of excessive hard work that you put into your studies during F.Sc/ A-Levels... You have to perform pretty decently in both F.Sc/A-Levels and the entry test... No offense to any other institute, but UET has the name and repute above all, particularly in engineering sector.... Just give it a try.. Go to the most renowned organization of Pakistan (industrial Sector) in complexes of Fertilizers and Oil & Gas, for instance, be it Fauji Fertilizer, Engro Fertilizer, Dawood Hercules, Pakarab Fertilizers, Fatima Fertilizers, Fauji Bin Qasim or even OMV, MOL, BHP Billiton, POL, OGDCL, PPL, ARL and find how many graduates of UET you find in the management sector and also in the top management... You can then evaluate urself... Remember, when its industrial sector, UET takes the lead... If its FMCG like Unilever, P&G, Coca Cola, Tetra PAck etc,, then u need to be managerial than technical.. here other institutes also play a good role like LUMS, IBA, LSC, NUST etc.

AOA everyone. i am currently in As level at the city school ravi campus lahore. i got decent grades in O level(3 A stars and three A and two b). InshAllah will get good results in A level too.

My job target is FFC (fauji fertilizer company). I wish to become an engineer (electrical or mechanical).
My family suggests that target UET and foreign universities arent an option. Now i am confused as to what institute is the most popular with local employers. Lums has started electrical engineering. I believe i will be best polished at this institute.

what would you guys recommend. plus how do i prepare for the entry tests?

i rated as follows for u
LUMS for MBA BBA etc.
NUST
UET Lahore for specifically Electrical communication
UET Taxila for specifically Electrical Power ,Civil And Mechanical
GIKI for electronics

Not underestimate UET. my brother get eng from UET Taxila and also get FULLBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP after that.
it is all about u that what u learn at university and ur CGPA and ur personality ur concepts about subjects.

I'm currently studying in first year in Karachi from top ranked Adamjee science college. My future plan is to mechanical engineering or automotive engineering from a well reputed university. My all time favourite uni is NED which offering automotive engineering as well, but nowadays it's rank is 9th in Pakistan. Plz guide me I need your advice. One last thing that GIKI, LUMS, NUST AND PIEAS are considering the merit or their own entry test???

SAT isnt needed for applying to Pakistan, its only needed to apply for universities in USA.

LUMS and Nust do have some seats for SAT I & II students but they are quite less and mostly are given to students with quite high SAT score. LUMS entry test is quite similar to SAT I test.

And most/all universities admissions are based in their entry tests. You do good in their entry test and youre in.

Uet Announce The Marit List & Ecat Result 2013

UET LHR 1st Merit list 2013 of all the campuses of University of Engineering & Technology was announced. All candidates/Students who have been selected are reminded to deposit their dues/fee and required documents before Saturday, October 13, 2013. Not a success to do so would result in postponement of their names from the list of candidates who would be considered in the upcoming merit lists. Candidates whose names are not incorporated in the 1st merit list would mechanically be considered for the second (2nd) UET merit list.

I have interned at FFC... They don't preffer lums kids now... They said we hired many but they all ran away within few months... We just sent them to field vists and after that they left!

Meaning they felt lums kids are mummy dady/want AC job/tekka/no khuari/ bossy...

Having said that I must add lums is way better than uet... The equipment they have invested in is latest!

I'd say go for lums... Dont focus on FFC... It's a quite avg company! For lums level kids there are many options... Multinationals etc.
