UET vs LUMS vs others

my cousin is graduated from UET lahore. he is in Schlumberger getting 8 lac per month(MashALLAH) and u r saying uet students start from Rs. 25000.
ITS ALL LUCK.

its the pay on average that UET people get at starting it doesnt mean they suck all their life. and there are always exceptions. i know some of my friends who were at UET who were extremely intelligent and didn't choose LUMS, GIKI, NUST by choice.

when did your cousin graduate from UET? if its early 2000s then boy those were good times. now pak economy is in toilet.

Even i'm not burger but not maila its sort of a normal banda but still they never understood a word i said because many of students are from villages or small cities plus they have this Gown wala mentality to put u in trouble and they like to do showoff on things u would rather throw away i mean i tried to have a good time with them but u can't be one of them they are bored they never seen a girl to samajh jaoo
plus i used to be very well fashoin councious banda but while in uet i used to walk up to classes in my sleeping shilwar qameez and slippers yes yeh asar hwa hai

when i went to LUMS all people were well dressed and brand conscious(most of them) so i followed their lead and started shopping from Levi's, Signature and other cool brands. so one day my bro also bought jeans from Levi's and went to UET as he is doing industrial engineering from there. his friends killed him by saying k "landay ki hai landay ki hai"

oh yes, its 30 or may be even 20km/h now... the rules are very very strict in there and i felt like being in europe when i felt the behaviour of other drivers on road

yes, large industries certainly are out of the cities mostly but if FFC wud be 20-30kms away frm lahore or isb or some other bigger city, i personally wont mind working there. like Pakistan tobacco company in jehlum. jehlum is a decent city in itself n is also near other cities. but theres hardly anything outside FFC. infact i ve heard it isnt even safe at night, the main road going into sindh.

okay, coming to the point. about universities. i ll keep it brief. i believe "jis hotel ki mutton karahi mashoor ho wahan pay tikkay khaanay na jao. tikkay wahan khanay jao jahan k tikkay mashoor hain" get the point? i wud definately definately prefer LUMS over any other institute if i had to study business. but for engineering, i believe NUST is the place! i know life at nust kinda sucks but im not gonna talk about that. while its true that the grooming u get at lums is second to none, theres not much u ll have to apply of that into engineering. u know 2x2 always equals 4 weather u're in a village or las vegas
but yes, if u;re into business studies, grooming matters a lot. u have to meet ppl. u have to attend meetings, convince ppl, interact with them n give presentations. thats where u ll use the polished personality of urs...

The life of PTC Jhelum is amazing. I've friends living there and I visited the factory too. Its amazing. Jhelum is a very nice place. Small city with everything under 10kms radius

talking about uni's go for priority wise 1.GIKI 2.NUST 3.UET
coz a being a GEEK is not everything now,groomed personality matters alot n a uni with better environment grooms u well in every aspect of ur life !!

my knowledge is not very up to date but i believe after Nust comes GIKI, UET, fast and then comsats.

B grades don't matter, just have enough to make it more than 60 percent in equivalence or something like that and ace the admission test (mostly fsc based)and you're good to go.

Life at GIKi is unparalleled. You are almost totally free, hardly any restrictions compared to NUST. Lums is good too. Academically nust is a bit better than giki i suppose.

you should have gone through the whole thread and read my earlier posts to see what I think of UET.

yes the standard of UET has fallen quite a lot now and even back then it wasn't best
but UET was most wanted among the lot who wanted to become engineers

i wish there had been just a single graduate of UET lahore/taxila here in this thread who could say that his four year education with UET sucked and gave him hard times... trust me.. you will never find such a person..

i know 2 ppl..just did electrical engineering from UET nd are currently on hunt for job..one is being offered 18k from Descon nd Haier
nd other one is getting 16k with 3.5 GPA as they say it..!..i dont think UET is doing that good in the rankings as-well as name wise in market..!

i agree with this..i have my frnds in giki..they only come back when they have holidays and have no other choice because they are bored here without the fun they have in GIKI hostels..!..i am actually jealous of the life they are having there..! nd that same life my elder brother had in GIKI..!

1. extraordinary networking skills/socialization skills/extrovert
2. experience/extracurriculars
3. CGPA

hold your horses boy, i know you are a commerce student too. By saying Debit/Credit, I was just trying to be sarcastic, failed attempt though. I am M.COM student at university of karachi and yes its not about debit/credit only, i was working as an Accounts Officer in a pvt firm, neither it was only related to debit/credit. Currently employed in a multinational IT firm alhamdullilah, its only my preference that i like technology field or may be its like "insan kise haal main khush nahi rehta".

so u are working in an MNC in ur favorite industry and yet u say theres no charm? is that fair? as for being a avg student, i myself used to be a below avg student, but i changed myself... u shud try it too... trust me, sky is the limit when u're working in commerce...

people are against UET because it has merit... Scoring a good score in uet entry test doesnt qualify you to be selected, but it takes a real need of excessive hard work that you put into your studies during F.Sc/ A-Levels... You have to perform pretty decently in both F.Sc/A-Levels and the entry test... No offense to any other institute, but UET has the name and repute above all, particularly in engineering sector.... Just give it a try.. Go to the most renowned organization of Pakistan (industrial Sector) in complexes of Fertilizers and Oil & Gas, for instance, be it Fauji Fertilizer, Engro Fertilizer, Dawood Hercules, Pakarab Fertilizers, Fatima Fertilizers, Fauji Bin Qasim or even OMV, MOL, BHP Billiton, POL, OGDCL, PPL, ARL and find how many graduates of UET you find in the management sector and also in the top management... You can then evaluate urself... Remember, when its industrial sector, UET takes the lead... If its FMCG like Unilever, P&G, Coca Cola, Tetra PAck etc,, then u need to be managerial than technical.. here other institutes also play a good role like LUMS, IBA, LSC, NUST etc.
