About one and a half year back I bought a SIM from the Sales counter of a Cell phone company. At the time of purchase I showed them my original ID Card and also gave a copy of it as required by the service provider to maintain the record. 2 days ago I came to know that the SIM wasn't in my name. I called the helpline and was told that it may be some mistake commited by the person at the sales counter at the time of purchase that my number was registered on some one else's name. This led me to a suspicion that some other number may be running in my name without my awareness. So I visited their office today. Initially they refused to tell me any thing but after some argument they told me that there was one number being used in my name but refused to block it. I then asked for the number but they refused it too saying it wasn't the company policy. After some more argument they registered the complaint saying that they will inform me in a week about my complaint and handed me a receipt of the complaint. However I am not at all satisfied with their attitude and response. Law and Order situation is declining day by day. What if that number is used for some illegal activity? I have also lodged a complaint with PTA. I don't know what else to do.
Its my advice to all my fellow members to check if there is any unauthorized SIM being used in their name as it may create problems for them if used in some illegal activity.
