DeeDee, will definitely be able to shed a lot of light on your subject. He just finished completely restoring a 1986 unimog, and it was an awesome punga. If you can get the manuals it would make your life that much easier. Don't worry about parts, Fihsak in Peshawar can help you also.

Hey Sarmad.

As far as mechanical work is concerned, I don't think it will need much beyond checking and replacing seals, gaskets, etc. and checking the diffs and hub drives, brakes, tranny. Essentially, I need someone who is familiar with the vehicle to check it out and do whatever needs doing before it heads into the wild.

@ DeeDee: Thanks, bro. I will assuredly give you a call when I am ready to start it up in the next few days. I checked the pump and it isn't pumping so it is due for a rebuild, and, likewise, the starter motor. I'll also make a trip to Shershah tomorrow or the day after and see what they have sitting around. And rest assured, I'd rather that it just sit there and wait rather than having an incompetent mechanic touch it! Thanks again for your help.

Sir u have got a clean Mog
i would suggest u not to hurry in the restoration project as a single decision can cost u alot in any sense be it monetory or any type of mental stress
M not much in to mechanics but for the feul pump i would sugest if the cost of repairs is having a little difference with that of the replacing and after the cost benefit anaylsis u can go for the best option from shershah
Do consult some mechanics who deal in Mercedes Cargo Trucks they might guide u about the engine stuff

Very clean indeed. DeeDee & Fishak are right about the mechanic. If you are talking about the fuel pump then there is no big difference between Mog's & Merc 123 240D's pump (Adeel correct me here). Look for a mechanic who have old mercdes parked @ his workshop, he will service it as its diesel pump doesnt go anywhere.

Do you have its rear frame which is installed on the dala?

DeeDee I spotted few down model Mog's Model Speedo Meters, it was huge and had built-in fuel & Temp gauage.
