There has been a surprising new entry to the world of motor sports. In a sport, that has been dominated by western countries since its inception some 8 decades ago and requires immense financial support to gain entry to the grass roots level. Emerging from a country which doesn’t even have a motor sport regulatory body and only one motor sport facility in the entire nation, the United Mobile XtremeVelocity Racing team is boldly going where no Pakistani motor racing team has gone before and proudly flying the Pakistan flag.
Pakistan’s oldest functioning and most experienced karting team, United Mobile XtremeVelocity Racing, is poised to continue its racing activities by taking part in the second round of the Nivea for Men Dubai Endurance Championships 06-07 on Nov 3-4 in Dubai. This will be a 24-hour endurance race to be held at the Dubai Autodrome.
By bringing home a trophy from its first international race United Mobile XtremeVelocity Racing has become the only Pakistani motor racing team to bring home an award from an international auto-racing event. United Mobile XtremeVelocity Racing has become the premier karting team of Pakistan by finding and bringing together the most talented and most experienced Pakistani kart racers from around the world. It is currently standing at 28 points after taking part in the first race in May and with two more races remaining, the championship is still wide open and there is a lot to be fought for.
Since the last race the team formerly known as Team Xtreme Velocity has undergone a few changes. The team name has been changed to XtremeVelocity Racing and for this race the team will be known as “United Mobile XtremeVelocity Racing”. A new team logo has also been designed along with team colors of red, black and silver. The team will be equipped with state of the art cordura racing gear. The drivers have changed with only four remaining from the team that participated in the first race and three new drivers have been inducted.
Having learnt a lot from their experience in the 1st race of the championship in May the team has placed a special emphasis on physical fitness as well as consistently fast racing ability. With the final team selection being completed, the team is busy preparing for this grueling event by undergoing rigorous 2-hour non-stop practice sessions at the First Karting Center in Karachi in addition to fitness training. Captain Dr.Syed Ovais Naqvi and vice-captain Dr. Adnan Chauhdry will again lead United Mobile XtremeVelocity Racing. The other members of the team include Shahzad Khokhar, Pasha Saigol, Aroosh Naqvi, Ashraf Raza and Juned Sani as team manager.
Several of the team’s drivers are professionally qualified after having completed international professional racing courses such as world-renowned professional Formula BMW racing course, which is recognized by the FIA (Federation Internationale De L’Automobile, and the Skip Barber Racing School and have international racing licenses such as the International CIK (Commission Internationale De Karting) approved karting license, BMW Club Racing License, NASA Racing License, Certified Instructor for BMW and Porsche Clubs of America, Sports Car Club of America Racing License, and U.A.E national kart racing license.
