Upgrading to ABS

Hi all PAK-WHEELERs!

I am going to upgrade the brakes of my car to ABS.
The existing brakes will be changed with 4 wheels disk brakes of 96 00 civic fitted with ABS wheel speed sensors.
Before this setup is fitted into my car I want to have full knowledge of the ABS setup, so experts who have full command on this topic please share your experience and guide me.

What MC size is to be used with the ABS setup?
What type of proportioning valve should be used with this setup?
Will steel tubes which are currently present and running to each wheel work with the new setup or I have to upgrade them as well?

The information so far I have gathered from various sites are as follow:
A small MC size will make the brake pedal swing more than normal to apply the brakes (full wheel lock). The most likely MC size what I perceive is 15/16".

I have currently got 7/8" (or 14/16") MC and a 6 ports proportioning valve.

Well Thanks brother, that is why I mentioned in my original post that Experts please share their experience.
I am myself waiting for the honorable members "Xulfiqar" and "Spoonmotorsports" who have helped me in the past.

Though I am not a total novice but for my own understanding I want to know the things in advance so that I know what the mechanic has done. And its my belief that if I am stuck whether to put a flat or a spring washer for tightening a bolt and someone help me in this regard I will consider it his sheer kindness let aside setting up the whole ABS.

Brother Sial it is not a rocket science. Every thing requires determination. The car that I have got was offered with both ABS and without ABS, so the platform is the same. It is only the selection of right stuff, and that is what I am asking here.

Hi, pretty big task you are taking here. Be prepared to spend some serious moolah and spend serious time too.

You need the ABS model MC, prop valve, ABS pump, its control module, all 4 wheel sensors, their tone wheel axles (front) and hubs (rear). Some custom brake piping and best to get a wiring manual for your car that you can see where to tap and splice into for the abs module.

I have got almost every thing that you have mentioned above.

1. ABS model MC
- Yes, but the size is 7/8", available sizes are 13/16", 14/16", 15/16" and 16/16", should I go with it or I have to use a bigger size MC.
2. Proportioning valve - Yes, but its for the non abs model (this is what i think as it has got 6 ports). If I am unable to find 4 port ABS prop valve, I will run the two rear wheel pipes straight in to the wheels. The proper prop valve will be inserted later on if I got one.

3. ABS pump
- Yes
4. ABS computer or control unit
-Yes
5. All Complete 4 wheels hub assembly with tone ring, sensor with pigtail wire
- I haven't got them right now but they are available easily
6. Piping
- Piping will be arranged by the mechanic who will fit the ABS
7. ABS Fuse/Relay Box
- Yes
8. Wiring Diagram
- Available

7/8 has worked pretty good in si/lx civics the problem that most people come up with is the fact that you have to press the pedal 30% more than normal too low i guess? but thats just a personal preference if all you want is the car to stop right you can go with the 7/8 if you do care about the pedal feel and the aggressiveness you might want to invest into a bigger mbc but before we can finalize! do let us know about what car do you have and what motor? aggressive driving much?
the steel tubes arn't an issue they will work like a charm unless and until they are crushed bended more on the propagating valve later

Sorry for the Late reply I was actually away from the town and was busy in my work.
The car is 93 EH8 civic with D15B vtec motor. Ocassionaly i may drive aggressively. The reason to upgrade to ABS is, as it was available in this model so I want to get this upgrade.

Yes, InshaAllah....... This is part of my project, I am actually refurbushing my car. Soon I will start another thread where I will unveil that project. These brakes will be added when the paint job is about to finish.

Thanks Brother.....
It will be a 4 wheel disk brake conversion but with an additional feature of ABS. As the EK civic disk brakes assembly normally comes equipped with tone ring and senso, all I have to do is to arrange the ABS computer, ABS pump/modulator unit wire harness and proportioning valve.
