The Block and Head are back from the leth... This leth guy is the same who has his shop near Radio Pakistan. Apparently he is top notch in his work and works forall toyota dealerships...

The pistons have ALL been replaced. the one with the bent neck has also been replaced. The rest of the 5 were fine.

The pistons and the single neck and other part pics i will upload with prices for u folks to judge.i'll do it tonite. the actual build will begin tomorow IA.

Till now Im satisfied with the build thanx to you guys. The parts purchased have all been Genuine Toyota. An elder brother of an old freind was in the auto parts bussiness and he helped me pick out authantic parts.

The Gear oil has also been drained, and as said by Xulfiqar..... it was indeed Cherry blossom The oil was a beautiful mixture dark brown and black color.... good color for a car paint job, but bad for gear oil

I asked the mech about the torque wrench and he said.... "nobody uses Torque wrench... not even in toyota :(.... and though he didnt resist the idea, he wasn't too keen to use it.

Can i use it myself while he builds it? can u guys educate me a little about it? Or its not possible for me to learn overnite?

I was thinking if i can learn, and u guys can teach me where and how to use the torque wrench, I may be able to do so.

Either the mechanic has superpowers that allow him to feel the torque, or he is just plain lazy.

My dad used a torque wrench (and other specialty tools) while he was rebuilding our Cultus' engine head 8 years ago. The car has been treated like dirt since then (nearly zero maintenance), and the engine still runs fairly quietly despite burning oil (worn valve guides).

I tried some searching for a few minutes; the service manual for this car is a pain to find. Nothing in the torrents, and nothing free in any Japanese sites (they being greedy b*star*s). Maybe my search techniques are poor.

Timing belt replacement This is a thread on an Altezza forums. One of the posters mentions that he has torque specs for the 1G FE beams engine.

If its any help, "Mark II" is called "マークII", and "repair manual" is called "修理書". Even a Japanese manual should be fine.

Edit: The Lexus IS/AS 200 also has a 1g beams. Maybe a service manual for that would also work.

this is what was shared on page 3 by "@Xulfiqar - I'll try to get you the torque specs of this engine specifically but in toyota generic bolts in aluminium engines are like this.

any bolt with a 10mm spanner head is tightened to 80 in/lb
any bolt with a 12mm spanner head is 22 ft/lb
any bolt with a 14mm spanner head is 44 ft/lb

any engine mount bolt going into the steel chassis of the car with a bracket is 65 lb/ft"

toyota 1G-FE important bolts torque spec

cyl head bolts (apply very very light coating of oil to bolts) - blow out debris n dirt from bolt holes in block.

stage 1 - 36 lb/ft
stage 2 - 90 degrees

sequence - centre outwards (meaning start from centre 2 bolts of cylinder head and work in cross pattern outwards)

verification - use a tip of blanco to mark the bolt position at 36 lb/ft - this mark should rotate 90 degrees to verify bolts are correctly torqued down.

cam cap bolts - 11 lb/ft.
main cam pulley bolt (new required - 25 lb/ft + 90 degrees) its also a TTY bolt.

intake manifold - 20 lb/ft (centre outwards - finish by checking torque on 1st again)
exhaust manifold - 30 lb/ft (centre outwards - use new nuts as these are locking type)

mains - 43 lb/ft - in 3 passes (centre outwards)
big ends - 36 lb/ft - in 2 passes

all other bolts seen on the engine are subject to the generic toyota torque spec as capsat posted again.

flex plate bolts - 54 lb/ft
crank pulley main - 160 lb/ft

while engine is assembled, please arrange coolant caltex premix, or coolant prepared in bottled water 60% 40% ratio, check the thermostat valve clean it with brush, clean the radiator cap, flush & clean the expansion tank ( coolant reservoir next to radiator )

am only sharing from data & knowledge base plus what I have learned from xulfiqar and doing over my very own vehicles, from THIS forum Technical section i've been able to restore alot of cars to factory specs to perform better. - thank you @xulfiqar @syncview @ser_gtr @argtr65 @rustam54 & @libra

engine assembly lube, buy from the 2 tools shop in plaza - they have it..

For sump sealing, buy a tube of toyota FIPG 103 or threebond 1207b or even permatex gray. whatever you use DO NOT use generic RTV. It wont work.

who is this mechanic? - the motorcycle one in Tauheed?

btw - find some acetone or CTC - right before any surface of the engine is to be sealed with either liquid or with gasket wipe it clean with it - its a non residue and fast drying solvent.

It will make sure 100% that no oil is there to screw up the sealing properties of your gasket. Even natural oil from your fingers can cause problems (wear gloves)

Clean the surface with acetone before setting up the gasket. And wear gloves.
