bro plz take my advice....dont waste ur money on these disposable systems....... my home theatre is probably one of the best in its price, seriously i dont mean to brag but i have yet to see one like it in pakistan!
im using a Marantz SR-7001 amp, a Rotel power amp, QED speaker cables, VDH interconnects, Denon DVD player, QED HDMI cables, KEF iQ5 speakers (not iQ50, iQ5) and a very well treated room.....
u can have a pretty decent home theatre system in that amount with a treated room so that there is no boom! which reminds me im using a REL subwoofer! and a bose sub as a passive subwoofer to meet the THX requirements!

You definitely have a nice setup but it is no where near the best in Pakistan. Infact its not even in the top 10. I personally have seen 2 proper home cinemas of friends who have spent in excess of 50 lacs on the setup. Infact if you go and search on AVSforums and AVforums you will find one Pakistani setup (cost in excess of 1 crore) which was featured in a worldwide AV setup competition and was featured in a renowned home cinema magazine.

^^^^ i said its one of the best in its price range! n equipment isnt everything u know, im sure ur friends have a well treated room cuz room acoustics play a major role in the final result of ur system!
actually the home theatre is my fathers hobby n he has incredible knowledge about the hi-fi world n with the help of his occupation, he is able to attend AV shows all around the world n this adds to his knowledge
About the price, bro ive seen B&O speakers costing 1.3 million a pair n all they produce in BOOOM, theres no quality in the sound, unfortunately majority of pakistanis are impressed by that boom n they go in favour of that speaker

even if we talk about the price range a debate can start but lets leave it to that. What matters is that you are enjoying your system. We dont have to a start a war here.

And my friends have a proper 10 seater and 12 seater cinemas. One of them brought over a tech from Singapore who designed the whole system. Needless to say the rooms are very well treated with proper sound dampening. Ill try to get some pics on my next visit.

And yes every audiophile knows that B&O and Bose arn't worth their price tags. The system I am talking about uses Thiel Speakers

Friends, guide me about the performance of Sony Bravia 46W400 TV, 52V550, and Samsung 46B650 or 55B650. Also update me on the prices. as far as I know, they are 153000, 218,000, 179,000, and 250,000. Are 4 of them Full HD and Can I get them in Lahore or Islamabad at these prices. I will appreciate if somebody is using them and tell me about their quality/performance

First of all, i'm sorry to reply so late. I hadn't logged on since some time.
Any ways, I bought the Sony Surround because i already had a custom surround system in my previous Home theatre system and Sony was Decently good on economy, ease of use and not to mention i got two years warranty when i bought it along with the LCD.
It was quite supportive of the Sony people to come to my house and let me check their various systems in the room in which i had to set up the system. After listening to different System of Sony, I bought
ht-ddw5500 which is 6.2 channel(PKR 47,000). Not only was it loud but also had quality, they(Sony) according to me have improved a lot since there old systems.

Is Size your concern? Like 55" and 52"?
If yes then the only options you would have are:
1.Samsung 55B650 250,000
2.Sony 52V550 218,000

BTW Sony Bravia 46W400 is not available its been replaced by Sony Bravia 46W550A. PKR179,000.

If you want to get an LCD for a bed room or lounge then Sony 40S550A (PKR 82,000) Would also sufficiently do the job. Its Full HD with nearly all options, it only doesn't have internet capabilities(which aren't a Big deal!).

According to surveys i conducted while searching for an LCD:
1.Sony are malaysian but Samsung are Local assembled( Imported have no waranty)
2.Samsung have internet capabilties but Sony doesn't.
3.Sony have a more "natural colour" then Samsung.
4.Samsuny usually but not always have higher Contrast ratio.

ahem ... i guess i will get flamed for saying this but i think BOSE is over rated

I would get a receiver of either Denon, Onkyo or Harman Kardon and mate it with speakers from Klipsch or Polk Audio

Stick with Samsung screen, i have a 32" 32V 720p Bravia and my next one Insha Allah would be a Samsung

Mate, Samsung LCD are terrific but if you plan to Buy 40" or something do look at S-series 40" 550A. Its good for 80K (Full HD 1080p/2 Megapixel).

Hi,
I'm in the midst of purchasing a Home theatre system for my Home.
I was willing to purchase the W-series 550 46", but it was too pricey.
After much hussle i manage to put up some probables.
Sony W-series 550 46" (PKR 197,000)
Sony V-series 550 52" (PKR 228,000)
Sony V-series 550 46" (PKR 180,000)
Samsung 6-series 46" (LA-46B650) (PKR 179,000)
Samsung 6-series 55" (LA-55B560) (PKR 250,000).

I have to finalized one of the above by tomorrow. I have a Maximum Budget of PKR 300,000. Please note that i dont want to use up all my budget, saving some would be lovely.

I had in mind to purchase the W-series 550 46", but as its price was almost PKR200,000 , i decided why not go for a bigger screen V-series 52", as they almost have similar features.
I think the final choice will be b/w Samsung 6-series 55" and Sony V-series 52" one because my Father is interesting in one of them.

Please Suggest which one i should go for and why?
P.S. I have very little time to finalize. And the one chosen will be my Home Cinema System. Ohh and BTW also suggest a GOOD Surround Sound system too!

Firstly i would like to thank you all in guiding previously.
Now i've come here again to take your advise once again.

I am replacing my Sony V-series 550A 52" LCD with a 3D LED. I think my options are Samsung Smart TV (55" , 59" and 64") , Sony and LG cinema 3D.

Which one should i get?
The main factor here is Active vs. Passive display of Samsung and LG, Which one do you guys suggest and why?

I have heard that the Passive displays, when used in 3D mode, reduces the resolution to half (540p), Is this true?

People who are using the Samsung Smart 3DTV and LG cinema3D are especially Welcome to share the review.

P.s This TV would be used in my Home Theatre Room.

Apart from the above i need advise for a suitable replacement to a Sony S-series 550A 40" (which is currently installed in bedroom). I have planned either Samsung LED TV 40" (PKR 89,000) or either Samsung Plasma 3DTV 43" (PKR 69,900).
This TV would installed in a Bedroom, so 3D is optional, but seeing the price of the 3D PDP- its a tempting offer.

Hows the performance of the PDP 3DTV? Is it any good?

This thread title is misleading, you should ask about a Plasma/LCD/LED not a home theater system ... by the way this is my setup

Kindly stay away from those stupid HTIB (Home Theater In A Box) things and stay clear of those Sony, Panasonic, Samsung so called home theaters ... once you hear a real setup in action you will know what i am talking about, by the way at the time of purchase i went through all the known brands before making a choice. For a screen i would look at the Samsung 8 series LED most probably, Sony are good but to be honest they are mostly bought due to "brand name" than anything else.

And regarding your call of HTIB, I agree with you but i luckily found an HTIB which had decent quality and was affordable. Its working swell since 2009 unlike what people were saying that it would not last 1 year.

I will go for Sammy considering the PQ, also if i am not wrong Sony's used to get their internals made from Sammy at one point (not sure about current scenario) the only bad thing about Sammy now days is that you get them made in Pakistan so quality is an issue. LG i am not sure about.

3D is not much of my interest as far as TV's are concerned, i am heading the information technology as well as 3D digital projection at Atrium Cinema's so i get my share of 3D there and after that i would not settle for a TV at home lol

My previous setup used to be the same Sony HTIB you have, not a bad bang for buck but soon you will get the itch to upgrade to the real thing, till that time it would serve you good
