Urgent : Road condition Gujranwala Bypass

aoa. guys i m planning a family trip to lahore and further to karachi on my platz from tomorrow onwards. i travelled from pindi to lahore and back in april via GT road and then the condition of gujranwala bypass near the area where some huge bridge was being constructed was very pathetic and there was a huge traffic jam. so if somoene please knows the latest condition of the same place in particular and bypass in general and let me know, i wud be obliged so that i decide whether to leave from GT road or motorway. thanks

PS : i wud be driving my platz which is pretty low on clearance, specially when the boot will be filled, so if road is bad on bypass (even if there are no jams), even then lemme know

Dont know about current situation there but it better for you to avoid it and go through city instead ob bypass

In old days, going through city is not a good option. But now it is theeeeeee best option to avoid bypass and go through the main city.

My friend, I am a frequent traveler between Lahore and Islamabad via GT road. I am on GT road every 15 days

Gwa bypass is still the way it is 5 years back It is always a hastle passing through this part of the world. It is kind of worst these days due to heavy fog on Motorway and all of the motorway traffic is also routed through GT road. Otherwise it was ok going through Gwa bypass.

I can still reckon you to use GT road and go through Gwa bypass. It hardly takes few minutes and you are out of the trouble.

Take the motorway its also a bit cheaper i think its Rs235 and ur car will giv u excellent economy plus lane discipline of truck drivers is quite remarkable on the motorway.Gt rd after Gwa is pathetic

take motorway mai last weekend lahore gia tha via GT road, road condition at GWA underpass is pathetic bht rush b tha n platz definitely ground ko hit karay ge coz road condition was very poor n bht baray baray khaday b hain....so in my opinion choose Motorway

dear use gt road it will save ur time & fuel but avoid gujranwala bypass i stuck there many time just go from gujranwala city rather than bypass.

Early morning and late night try to pass through the city. Road is OK and will be lil bit shorter as well. At Peak hours bye pass bridge(being constructed finger crossed ) and then last turning on to GT road towrds ISB/pindi is worst traffic jam nightmare....
It all depends upon the timings of your journey....passing through the city road is not bad. Good luck....

I traveled 10-days ago and found very bad condition (there was rainfall before my journey) so very horrible situation I faced. my suggestion travel on motorway or from inside city.

Do any of you guys have current info. on travelling through gujranwala? I know a bridge is being constructed in the city. Howz the sialkot bypass to go towards lahore? Also how is the road condition from wazirabad to gujranwala? I will like to use the GT road to go to lahore if i can some how find out that these areas are o.k for travel.

My used GT road around 3 weeks back, Gujranwala Bypass was fine, one side bridge is already constructed and being used for both sides traffic!!! ur speeds slows down in Gujranwala but u dont stop!!!!

Similarly my Dad needed to go to Jehlum last Saturday to reach on some funeral!!! he got stuck in Gujranwala for around 3 Hours ... reason was some strik in city!!!! and he was not able to reach Funeral on time!!!

so it all depend on ur luck!!!!

My suggestion to you come through M2. ByPass option isn't good to me because there's lot of rush and bad traffic as well. You have to burn your heart and fuel if stuck in traffic. In Gujranwala city also a fly-over is under construction. Don't know about Sialkot ByPass.

If u dont have any stop on GT road, i will recommend you to USE Motorway!!! much safer and peace of mind!!!

Gujranwala bypass is horrible. The so many round-abouts (chowk) on bypass (Awan chowk, alam chowk etc) are the main culprits of traffic jam. Travelling through the city is still better. However, you will find traffic block at few places, especially the traffic signal at DCO Office (if I remember correctly).

GT Road condition is mostly good especially I love the Jhelum to Gujrat section of GT Road but there are some rough patches near Muridke, Komoke.

If you do decide to travel via GT Road, get onto M2 motorway from Kala Shah Kaku (after Muridke). That way you will be able to avoid really bad traffic jam near Shahdra and onwards (that place is still under construction). From M2 you can easily enter lahore via Thokar.
