Used ATF T IV instead of ATF WS

hi guys
i have 2005 vitz and i got the transmission fluid changed and used ATF T IV instead of ATF WS . plz tell me how will it effect my car and should i change it or use it plz help i am really worried

Ideally u should get back to WS. I faced same situation with Mark X and changed back to WS.

Spectra is correct that WS is better if you can get it. T-4 will have a much shorter service life, and therefore will need changing more frequently.

^ ws means world standard and what i have read so far it should be used in cvt gears. i dont know about cruisetronic whether it has cvt or not but toyota say it has lifetime usage. and your car is almost new you dont need to replace anything right now

How did you get it changed and what was the amount of T-4 put in, compared to the total capacity of the transmission?

WS is full synthetic, and T-4 is semisynthetic. They are fairly close in their properties.

The frequency of change should be determined by the use of the vehicle, with a low range of about 20-25k and a high range of 60-75k if I have to guess without specifics. More important are the load cycles and operating temperatures.

the mechanic opened the chamber and drained the oil out. cleaned the filter and then closed the chamber and put in 3, 1 litre cans of T IV and i am not sure but i think transmission hold around 6 litres. the car is driven almost 50 - 70 km daily and you the pakistani temps

i just talked to the mechanic and he says that WS oil is not available in pakistan (i doubt that) and T IV oil has a life of 50,000 kms

Thanks but when do you reckon a new corolla's ATF should be changed considering the Pakistani environment? and should WS be used or the other one?

Did you inquired about this oil from a Toyota dealership or any other normal workshop

the oil to be used in your car should be written in the owner's manual. no i havent inquired it yet but i will.

Osk89: Type WS is available in Islamabad I think, please check in Spectra's thread. for a 50% ratio, I would get it changed within 5000 to 10,000 km, i.e. relatively soon.

Mani1: What is the original fill in that model of Corolla in Pakistan? If it is WS, I would leave it in there for at least 40k km, if T-4 I would change it at about 25k.

ATF WS is available in 4L cans and it is for around 3200 PKR. You can get it from Faisal autos on montegomery road.
