Hello everyone, i wanted to share my experience regarding buying a car from Pakwheels.
So the car i was looking for was an automatic 2015 model Gli. Asking prices varied from 21 to 24, most cars with reasonable prices used to sell in few hours and as you call, you came to know that vehicle is already sold.
So this made me desperate, i had already sold my car and was on uber and careem, i desperately needed a car.
This desperation costed me.
I saw an add for a 2015 model gli asking for 24 lac, automatic, my budget was 22.5 max, but i went to look at it nonetheless and took my mechanic along.
Body was in excellent condition, except for few small dents here and there..
Mechanic also checked it out. And he said car is fine.
Everything is fine.
Anyways i paid a hefty price, almost 50k above market for that car just because i wanted a trouble free ride.
Few days later i started feeling that something is wrong.
Took it to dealership and found out that are many things GROSSLY wrong with the car that any mechanic can easily pick up.
There are issues of front suspension, lower tie road play and also some play in steering rack, tyres also needed change(which i did), also car is not shifting very smoothly, there was issue of vibrations on acceleration which turned out to be Inner CV axles issue which i got repaired(which seems to have solved it for now but i might need to replace whole axles sometime in future).
In short it is a work in progress and i keep on throwing money at it but it still doesn't feel right to drive.
I have kept it for 3 months now, it drives, starts fine, take me from place A to B , but it is not a pleasure to drive.
It was an abused vehicle and previous owner didnt maintain it properly.
Now here i was cheated by 2 people
1st one is the seller, who didnt tell me anything relating to all these suspension issues
2nd one is my trusted mechanic who despite knowing that there are issues in car, advised me to buy the car so that i can take the car to him in future and he might earn some money.
Anyways, i like my cars smooth, i will rectify all the issues with this car slowly but surely, however this has been a very learning experience for me:
NEVER EVER TRUST ANY MECHANIC
And also never fell pray to this geniune body color thing.
I left many cheaper mechanically perfect vehicles with 2,3 pieces painted just because i was looking a total geniune car. I even got one inspected from pakwheels it earned overall score of 8/10 with body at 61%.
I was getting that one 150k cheaper, just needed to get few panels painted and i could have gotten a properly dealerhsip maintained car, instead i got a car with mechanical issues with shiny body.
All that glitters is not gold.
Lesson learnt is worth alot though.
