I witnessed a somewhat similar situation. Shortlisted a corolla but it was sold right after a few hours of posting the ad. Saw an ad of the same car with the same pictures a week later, but with an absurd demand. See for yourself :V

This is how these dealers and investors operate. They start raising demand of their cars all of a sudden. By seeing them the others also increase their asking price thinking that market value of a certain model car has risen sharply. But this is actually an artificial price hike.

This is not exactly about demand/supply thing but about malpractices, greed and ill intentions.

Corolla is a superior segment car, has much better build quality too.

If only people would stop adoring used car salesmen and stop copying their irritating statements of jenyan, shower, untuch, seal pack etc etc..

And people need to stop looking at cars just on resale and actually start looking at them as depreciating assets - even horses were depreciating assets before cars, they did eventually die of old age or some disease etc.

I saw a person negotiate with my neighbor while trying to buy his vehicle & it was very irritating

there is a new mafia in play... the online dealer mafia. from past couple of years. every single car is artificially price hiked. every single person selling on high price... give the common buyer the perception that perhaps this is the normal price.

This is something that isn't going anywhere for a while. People are now actively investing in cars.
The reason people eventually surcum to this exorbitant price is because the next best thing is a million more. Like for instance, 100 series cruisers were 3 mil to 5.5 mil depending on model, variant etc. Around 4 years ago. These days, decent ones are around 8 mil, mint ones are around 9 mil.
Similarly, decent 80 series are now 2.5 mil to 3.5 mil, buyers justification is that the next best thing costs almost twice as much.
The only way to break this monopoly is variaty, which took a huge dip when imports became extremely restrictive

I think the common man will search for his car first online with the same exact criteria thinking this is legit and place the same ad.
There is another nafsiyat k "sasti laga d to log samjhengy koi masla hai".
So seller are also influenced by these mafia.
Also if a geniune seller sell it on below market price, the mafia will buy it and put an ad double the price which we saw above as an example.
I also want to sell and buy a car but price hike is bad that i keep on thinking k kharcha kr k rkh leta hn gari warna same peson mein dobara ye gari milna mumkin nhi

If they deal honestly, there is nothing wrong with making a profit with used cars. But I have found that most lie like lawyers and politicians.

One dealer posed as a genuine seller by listing his home address as a contact point. I asked him why he had not registered the car to which he replied he is a big property dealer and owned multiple cars so he did not have time to register. It was only by asking from a nearby local perchune ki dukan I learned he owned a car dealership business. Why not list his business address? Because I would have never visited him having experience of these dealers.

His ad on PW stated no work is required, just buy and drive. I visited the dealer' house - a two storey 400 sq.yd house - with a personal acquaintence who was expert in appraising cars. He found so many flaws in the car that made me flummoxed at the dealer. The dealer had wasted our time and had I not brought my expert acquaintence, he would have ripped me with over priced junk metal.

sir 90% of the ads are like this.... even the so called "genuine" sellers don't tell you the faults of their cars : (

Most of the dealers buying cars now act like house use buyers but you can clearly tell from their body language and their use of words "jin one". Had a guy who was a dealer pretend that he was an expatriate with zero information and brought his "cousin" who had zero resemblance and i mean literally zero resemblance to him and both of them even accidentally claimed to be of different parts of the province as their ancestral land. Dude literally acted like a goof ball while his "cuz" acted like sir gaari ka airbag khulla hai cuz i had a cracked grille, lmao and then he's arguing that a car has airbag sensors not behind the headlights but wait for it "attached to the bumper" . At that moment i knew just how serious this buyer is and i just respectfully told him to sod off. His excuse for not buying it agter wasting two days was that "sir mene samjha UG hai" when i clearly stated in the ad that it was not and i sent him pics from literally every single angle literally highlighting all the dents and scratches myself too. Good luck finding a 2020 UG under 40 LMFAO
I also found it funny how this person claimed he was on the road from Sargodha to Lahore and somehow reached in 30 mins while i could hear his kids which did not accompany him just 20 mins before on thr phone.

I sold my car 4 days ago.
People called me from:
* Gujrat
* Quetta ( This guy sent me a voice note in the end in English with really good American accent)
* Mardan
* Abbottabad
* jaranwala
Meh i forgot, all the guys came in under 1 hour after asking if I am at home except the quetta-americano-accent guy.
It was a mental trauma for me to sell a car but Alhamdulillah out of it now
Now looking for a car to buy and this is what i see in the ads
* reversed meters
* showered except roof (bhai wo bhi krwa lete) and saying kyn k scratches that. Khuda qasam, chummi ley ley banda is bat per.
* seal to seal; not sure what they meant by this.
* service history maintained and upon asking they just go rude k aap lene waly hein he nhi.
* dealership maintained.
Ah man, our used car market is a comedy show.
And not all like this, there are some geniune seller who tells you everything honestly upon asking and salute to the one which i come across yestersay.

Yes bro like i was literally sending people custom pics of every single dent from every angle they were asking. Eventually i just sold it to carfirst as they gave me the best offer plus they don't take the dealer commission which is another plus, also since most of my dents and scratches were on my bumpers which technically does not count but dealers love pointing it out, they didn't even check bunpers and only checked genuineness of the body paint
