"ye samaan 1 lumber hai, Kaabli maal se kancha item" - this term was used way back in the late 90s too when afghan transit smuggled stuff was actually available near the old sabzimandi in Karachi (there were some rather large used car showrooms there at the time) - all of them had the common pashto/dari language trait (which I countered with farsi lol)

I recently had an encounter with one such dealer at the old sabzi mandi area. I was looking for a commercial loader truck. Not so surprisingly, not much has changed. The Pashto/dari langauge trait lives on and kabuli maal or "japan mae chali hui gaari" is still gold.

Continuing from the Nissan Tiida selling experience, rather after-sales services:

So finally, the guy came (who bought the car later), thoroughly checked the car, took the test drive, and OKied the car. He was only interested in Nissan.

He said that he would also like to have the vehicle inspected by his mechanic, and would like to bring him within 1-1.5 hours time interval. I said no problem. He may bring anyone, and have the car checked. He went, brought his mechanic, now his mechanic took the test drive, and OKied the car.

We started bargaining, and after reaching mutual consensus, he finally bought the car, and made the full payment transfer in my bank account within an hour, and I handed over him the vehicle immediately. We then went to Stamp paper shop, signed the sales deed, and he dropped me at my place.

He was a nice person, but a property dealer (i.e. a businessman). I told my friend about it, and he immediately warned me to be careful and exercise caution, as he may try to save (or extort) money, one way or the other, and may try to take advantage of my sharafat and saadgi.

And the same happened after almost 10 days...

When I handed over him my vehicle, I told him that he may try, thoroughly drive, etc. Tiida for 02-03 days, and if he finds any problem, he may immediately return the car and take his money, i.e. I gave him money back guarantee (because there was nothing wrong with my car and I was confident about it). He said that aap ub gaari bhool jyein, and ye meri ho gye...

After around 10 days, I was going to meet my friend, when I received his call, and he said that "... he has been able to grab his hands now after 10 days, as gear box had collapsed. I had given him warranty. The expenditure incurred had been around 60,000 PKR, and if I could share 50% of the expenses involved, then it would be quite nice and great. He also has the old gear box with him..."

I said no problem. I am going to meet my expert friend, and tell him everything. Then we'll talk with you, and sort it out.

After dropping the call, I was extremely puzzled, as gear box failure seemed impossible to me, due to multiple reasons:

1. I had owned it for about 2.5 months. After lock-down relaxation, i.e. after Eid-Ul-Fitr, 2020, I daily drove it for about 40 Kms. Took it once on motorway and drove around 110-115 kmph (my friend tested it at 140 kmph, and everything was buttery smooth and stable). I never, ever faced any jerks, lag, any abnormal sounds, etc.
2. When I handed him over my vehicle, it was in absolute working condition, with zero anomaly. All modes (P,R,N,D, L, and S "Sports" mode in case of Latio version) were working flawlessly. I knew it, he and his mechanic knew it, so I failed to understand that why it failed when I had handed over my vehicle to him, or his mechanic (it may be noted that his mechanic had first declared the gear box as AT, as it did not had S Mode with the gear lever. However, my ride definitely had Sports mode, but it was button operated with the gear stick).
3. When trouble had arisen, then why did he not tell me immediately? Why he told me after 10 days? when he had changed the gear box? Wasn't his responsibility that if trouble has arisen (if it actually had), then he must have immediately parked the car, and immediately called me, and told me the concerns. I and my friend visit, and sort the issues out, but he did not do any such thing.
4. He quoted the price of gear box as something in-between 50-60,000 PKR, and sourced from Peshawar. This much can never be the price of gear box. Nissan Tiida, and then Latio, is quite rare in Pakistan, and its parts are further rare. Then gear box, which is one of the most sophisticated and rare things, can be almost impossible to source, and never in 50-60,000 PKR. Its price must be around 1 lac and above, provided its available.

Such thoughts, and many other different concerns, made the things highly fishy and doubtful.

I reached at my friend's home, and told him everything. He immediately sensed that there is something very fishy, and he is just trying to mint / extort money from you, one way or the other, and trying to take advantage of your sharafat and saadgi.

He asked me to give him his contact no. and that, he'll himself talk to that guy. He called him before me, and theek thaak tabeat sa'af ki. Since then, he has never called me, or my friend.

I do not know what had actually happened, but 02 things come in my mind:

1. Nothing had happened, and he was just trying to get money.
2. The gear box was damaged by his mechanic, by one reason or the other, improper gear oil, gear box abuse, dragging, etc. (the same mechanic, who was declaring Nissan Tiida Latio as an AT gear box, instead of CVT)

So, aesa b ho jata hai...

Human stupidity know no bounds, and if a person driving his car at 150-200 kmph speed, shifts from "D" mode, or 6th gear (in case of MT car) to "R" mode, considering "R" mode stands for "Rocket" mode, then who can be said responsible for the havoc, which will be caused to the car in general, and gear box in particular?

Of course, the seller cannot be held responsible!

But meray jaisa banda agar koi 2-3 din ki buy back, money back guarantee dey dey, and wo banda gear box kharab kar k ley aye (and we both know that who is responsible for the havoc), then wo cheez meray galay parr sakti hai, as I had committed it.

Lesson learnt: Aap jitnay b confident hoón, and however best is your car, when a potential buyer buys it after thorough checking and investigation, and you hand over him your car; do not take any responsibility for future, and do not show any courtesy. Ye Dunya bohat zalaim hai!

That's all, and with this, my experiences for now come to an end...

When I sold my swift to a fellow
Before he took a test drive I told him to be cautious about this radiator it's rusty other than that it doesn't have any problems
Sold it because I wasn't able to pay it taxes & that the main issue with this car it's taxes fall in under 1500cc cause it's 1328cc I told him before on call that I'm not able to pay taxes you have it to buy as is
So we agreed on the price & paid the full price & we did the paperwork but he didn't transfer it on his own name
Unfortunately I forgot something important to my in that car
So I did contacted him if he can deliver that thing
But he kept on saying the car isn't with me & later on my father called him the second time he told him I sold the car to a dealer
My father asked him to make sure the car is transferred but he denied & told him that we lied to him that car wasn't in good condition it needed a lot work etc etc
Altough I told him everything I knew about the car
But the thing is I can't predict the future that the car will cause more trouble to him
Altough it's understandable that it's used car it will cause trouble still he blamed us for shit he had experienced with this car

Now I couldn't afford swift's fuel average & parts are expensive another reason why I sold it & degraded to Cultus 2012
That to needed Lil bit of work installed brand new tyres brake pads brake shoes & hand brake cable was broken installed a new one
Did general maintenance right after I bought the car
Installed new seat covers
Please keep in mind that used cars do need a Lil bit of work don't blame other specifically the previous owner.

Liquor wasn't involved, however, Mitchell's Squash and my Sa'adgi were definitely involved.

Why would he need the Latio transmission and swap it with the original one, when original one had been working absolutely fine, at the time of handing over the vehicle to him?

There were zero mechanical issues related to the car at the time of sale.

uy who had sold to some one for 4.65,the same car was listed by the new buyer for 5.5 or above.

bhai online bhi ab 90% dealers hi baithay hain. as soon as you post ad they start low balling you until you rupture your one nut and give your car away at their offered price and later you will see the same car for sale by the dealer at 1 lac plus rupees : (
happened to me, saw a car on Pakwheels, it was listed for 13.40 lac Swift Auto 2014. I called the owner in the morning and he said party is coming to see the car and that he will call me back. The car was in Iqbal Town, khair half a day passed i started calling him again and his number was off, then later in the afternoon, i tried again he picked up and said car is sold .. i asked him he should have at least informed me if he said he was going to call me back... khair, next day, the same car, was up for sale from another location in Lahore and asking price was 14.75 lac ... and i was like WTF man... the dealer stole that opportunity from me !!
