My family owned a 1995 CIvic which had 313,000KMs about 5 years back when we sold it. It drove fine and the reason we sold it was we had 4 cars at the time and keeping all four was extremely time consuming. I kept in touch with the new owner for a few years and he later sold the car with 400,000KMs on the odometer to someone in Peshawar who drove it on CNG. Up until this point, the car had its original engine. I've seen the car multiple times in Rawalpindi Cantt and sometimes even on GT road. It still looked almost the same the day we sold it. I bet it still has the original engine. My father is usually very busy and he frequently had late oil changes done. However, the car did not have any faults. It ran and drove really well and I still regret selling it.
One of my current 2007 Civics has just over 250,000KMs and still runs absolutely fine. I have piles of receipts from Honda Center Peshawar Road and every time the guy who writes down the mileage hears the mileage, he double checks lol.
You can generally tell if a car has been looked after by having a 10 minute chat with the owner. Don't assume every high mileage car isn't maintained. If it got to where it is today, someone did look after it. Anyone who says otherwise is just plain stupid. You'd be amazed to see how poorly maintained most low mileage German cars are compared to some older, slightly higher mileage examples. Realistically speaking, very few people have their cars maintained from dealerships since that in itself is a chore. Sometime a simple oil change can take you over 2 hours at Honda Center.
