Used Vitz 2005 airbag light on

Hello All,

I bought a used Vitz 2005 model from someone today, it has airbag warning light ON.
The person from whom I bought this car had changed its engine 1.5 Years ago, he said he didn't pay attention to this warning light and don't know since when it is on and said it could be a wiring issue it can easily be solved by scanning the ECU.
The car is in good condition overall and had no accident whatsoever, I got it checked from a good denter/mechanic before buying it.
The car horn is working properly.
Can anyone help me what could be the problem, should I buy a bluetooth OBD adapter scan it myself or take it to some good electrician, as I don't want to drive the car with this vulnerability in it.
Any advice from someone who has knowledge about it will really be appreciated.
P.S. I live in Karachi, also please suggest me some good electrician who has experience in this kind of things.

Dont google, dont worry to much. Go to a electrician. Let him check what's wrong.

Smallest problem could be a loose wire, or someone who opened the horn pad forgot to reconnect the grip

yes you are right, but a little knowledge before hand is useful to not to rip off by these electricians, as they may overcharge telling me stories.

Youre welcome mate. Just as an estimate, he did all the wiring of my car in around 2500, since last owner had CNG and all. He took 2500 but did a good job. Waisay he is mostly in Phase 2, so if you can go, maybe 2000 main karday

He has his garage in korangi, mainly specialises in rally 4x4s and their suspension, kings off road racing shocks and ironman shocks (or bushings, i dont remember sahi say). I went to him because hes a mamu of my friend, and kaafi acha kaam kia tha in a reasonable price. Agreed, time zaida laga dia tha but the end result was very satisfactory. All the others mechanics i visited told him ke bhai apka engine bahir ayega seals nikalne ke liye, 20000 ki labour hai, 6000 ki seals hain, and they said an intehai pagalon wali baat, ke gear nikalo gey masla hojai ga, but he told me otherwise. Jo 26000 ka baat bata rahay thay, wo onho ne aram say 10k main kardia tha. Been 3 weeks, car feels very light and the leakage is gone

Best path ahead would be to talk to a computer guy (or electrician who has a bidirectional scanner). Code can be removed in best case, worst case is that you need to replace your SRS module. That is when the SRS module have stored a crash log in it. some people are able to remove an IC from the SRS module, flash it with same information from another similar SRS module and make it work.

Wiring may be an issue but i won't bet on it..

That being said, your SRS system won't work till you get this light fixed.

Cheapo OBDs monitors only PCM PIDs.. to get bidirectional capabilities, you need special OBD bluetooth devices with specialist softwares...

don't worry much about it, i think the electrician will attach a diagnostic scanner and delete the existing codes, that'd do the job if there's no other fault!

So the problem of SRS Airbag light is resolved after replacing the refill under the horn pad.
I got the car scanned and following is the report that I got. it has 2 problem related to engine and 1 related to Power steering, The person from whom I got the ECU scanned and replaced the Refill under the Horn pad was just insisting on the tuning of the car done, I was kind of skeptical on that because I think I was already over charged for scanning and replacement of refill. So I decided to fully understand the problem first then decide whether to go for so called tuning or not.
I guess it is related to my known issue of the engine stops sometimes on very slow speed or during idle especially when AC is on at very low speed like 5-10 KM/hr
can you guys or any experienced person please have a look and let me know what could be the problem.

I can see a few interesting things in there:
1. Was this report taken after the driver airbag replacement?? Looks like this was taken before air-bag replacement coz the B1801 code is current which means that SRS module is not detecting the driver airbag. which essentially means that if the guy replaced the airbag because of the fault, it's still not resolved... in that case your problem may be with the clockspring and not with airbag at all.
2. Your stalling/Engine stop comes from U0105 which is lost comms with Fuel injector control module. This will be a tough one to troubleshoot. Here's why; Modern cars communicate with computers (like ECM, PCM, BCM, SRS Module, Door Modules etc) on CAN BUS which is introduced to reduce the car wiring. This is a great solution but sometimes noise (abnormal Voltages) causes the communication to break and cause all kinds of errors. source of abnormal voltage is hard to detect. This abnormal noise i believe in your case is comming from the AC Temperature circuit (I may be wrong, won't be the first time). My theory is that incorrect signal from HVAC module is causing injector modules to lose comms with ECM or ECU. There ain't much evidence that i can see here to support this hypothesis but it's definitely cheaper to unplug AC sensor circuit and run car for a while than to jump into the rabbit hole.
